I go to this place with my friends on a sunday evening. Its raining heavily and the weather's just perfect for being in and around Bandra :D A pint or two can only make things better...; So we enter Toto's in a good mood, and after so many referrals, even better expectations.
First Impression: Extremely crowded. The manager (who serious needs a crash course on people skills, not to mention weight management) refuses to have us seated even though there are 2-3 empty table. He keeps telling us the are reserved.
Food/ Drinks: Decently priced food as well as drinks. The menu card though required a revamp. It was a sheet of laminated A4 paper. The shots are a bit on the expensive side if you consider the fact that you might not even get a place to sit (or have a wee bit of elbow room if you'r standing near the bar counter). The options were fairly good for non veg as well as veg dishes. We weren't too hungry and opted for a paneer and corn dish...the paneer although a bit 'rubbery' tasted good (or maybe it was just all the drinks that made everything good) :)
Ambiance: Funky. Casual. I'd say its a great place to go if you are with a larger group of friends. However don't expect to make any meaningful conversation in here. One thing I fail to understand is, why would a place that sells so many beers fail to understand the next logical step of the human psyche...One needs decent loos to relieve themselves of all that unbridled guzzling! The music urgently needs to be looked into; they keep repeating the same tracks :S
So all in all a decent place, which may be avoided particularly when too crowded.
(PS: Those 2 - 3 tables continued to remain empty until the time we left the place. The manager continued to be unapologetic about it when confronted. Ah well! I guess its fashionable to have the floor of a pub always seem more crowded than it actually is)
