So my fiance and I decided to go to a place we've never been to , ended up choosing VEDA.
The decor, as expected, is classy (since its a Rohit Bal restaurant). Although, my fiance said something to the tune of it looking kinda Gothic (Need to chat with him about this). Getting straight to business, here's our verdict on the food:
Starter - Vegetable Seekh Kebab - under-cooked, tasteless and spicy
Chicken Dum Biryani - above average
Dal Veda (their signature Dal makhani - Really good!
The chutney that came with the papads and the kebab was a tad bit salty and had a different (not-in-a-good-way) taste to it. There was another accompaniment i.e. some Indianized salsa like condiment - not quite interesting.
Although, I didn't call for it, something that caught my attention was that their yellow dal tadka is made of moong dal and not TUVAR dal (which is how most other restaurants make it!!) i was debating between the 2 dals on their menu and decided to go for Dal veda since it is what they are famous for!
Bill- INR 1872 for all the above (papads complimentary) plus Diet coke and 1 tandoori roti.
The food was way too expensive for something that lacked the WOW factor and the portions were small for a regular Indian restaurant, but I wouldn't complain about it.
Would i go back again? not anytime soon. definitely not a second time crowd puller.
