Midnight Buffet
Their midnight buffet priced at Rs. 650 per person is worth the buck. They have a very good spread of food. The main plus point for me was their treatment of their meat which is tenderised to perfection. Most of their preparations were well spiced which blended well with the vegetables and meat. I would give it three stars but their service is good too, as a result of which I give four.

Mediocre - Not worth the buck
Visited this restaurant on a sat night located in ITC at grand central. Firstly, the ambiance and the decor of the hotel is not even a close bit of the one at Andheri east. The Hornby's Pavillion is the equivalent of the Peshwa Pavillion at the Andheri one. Much like the latter, we went to try out the dinner buffet at Hornby's.
The range and variety was ok. What didnt impress me was the taste and the conveinence of dish placements. The Indian veggies like Paneer Korma, Mutter Veg was below par. The appetizer of corn patis was the worst i have ever had, was cold and tasted stale. The biryani was awful and I found the yogurt in the dahi wada a little sour. The saving grace was yet again the benchmark dal bhukara. Along with that, i did enjoy the tomato noodles. The deserts were very basic and nothing to take the word on it.
All in all, the food, ambiance, taste was quite mediocore. I would have happily accepted this at a 2 -3 star hotel or at a mom & pop indian joint, but def not at ITC nad def def not when you are paying 1150/- pp for a buffet.

great breakfast buffet
was there yesterday for an early morning breakfast around 9am and it was packed to capacity.
everything on the menu is part of the buffet so really very little sense in going for a la carte.
the spread is pretty impressive and they cover a lot of ground with cuisine as well as beverages.
you get pancakes, beans, parathas, khichadi, veggies, mushrooms, eggs, selection of bread and cheese, plenty of juice, milkshakes, lassis, coffee etc etc.
it really has something for everyone and most of what i tried was good. i do believe that ordering of the menu means even better quality.
i have tried the spread at Shamiana and erstwhile Palms but neither come close to this.
the service is ok, could be better. they are also offering plenty of Indian bubbly on the house for all their buffets.

Amazing Lasagna
There's something about buffets that has started turning me off. You plan for them - almost fast for an entire day ahead of it. You drool at the sight of food once you get there. You heap up your plate for the first helping. And after the first few bites, you suddenly lose your appetite. And then you're simply gorging either for paisa vasool or peer pressure ("Abe tu to itne mein hi khatam ho gaya!") In the end you've paid a very high premium (sometimes a thousand or so per head) for a meal you didn't quite enjoy and which is going to be on your conscience for the next two days (calories!!)
So, the other day, while going home, when we stopped at the ITC Grand Central on an impulse for dinner, I was pretty sure I didn't want to go in for the Rs 875 + taxes dinner buffet.
Instead we ordered for a jalapeņo, capsicum, olives, bell peppers 12" pizza (Rs 395) and a vegetarian lasagna (Rs 425). The pizza, although not bad, was nothing to talk home about. It was decent. But the lasagna, was tops! It had Mediterranean vegetables, layers of soft pasta, interspersed with spinach and mozzarella. Now don't ask me what Mediterranean veggies are - that's what the menu said - I saw pieces of pumpkin there too! The taste was awesome. The spinach and med-veggies were giving it a lovely flavour. Just the right amount of cheese, tomatoes, and oregano as well. Most Italian fares that I've had, have an overdose of one of these three ingredients.
I had a look at the dessert buffet, but priced at Rs 600 + taxes, I didn't find it appealing enough.
The food was good, but for a five star hotel, I found the service slightly bad. The place was too crowded, and probably they were not equipped to handle the load.
Whatever said, all in all, a thousand bucks well spent.

Midnight Spot for the Centralites
I have been frequenting this place for a few years now. Unlike, the coffee shops in the Western Surburb 5 Stars, which are usually packed to the brim and pretty noisy, Hornby's Pavillon is more quiet and private. I especially like ITC for its Grand Decor its definitely a pleasant experience at that hour.
I have never visited this place before 1AM so I don't know what the scene is earlier but its definitely really chilled out that hour. I usually get myself Chocolate Brownie, with Chocolate Sauce which is simply heaven. The coffees are pretty decent too.
In general, the staff is very attentive, the only downside is - for some reason they take ages to get your bill. I don't know what the issue is, but each time I have wait for at least 15-20 mins for the bill to arrive- the wait feels even longer coz at 2:30AM all you're fantasizing is getting into your bed. So make sure you call for you bill half way through your coffee!
