For a college kid, this restaurant is SUPER Cheap. I love the atmosphere its very very relaxed. At least it seemed relaxed to me.
But before i completed my Double anda Fry, Doodh and 6 Bun Maskas (yes i ate them all by myself, i dine alone always, for peace of mind) and i looked up i saw that the people who were at my table were not there , it seems like they had already changed thrice by then.
They come, sit, stare, drink their cutting chai and their out before u know it. Yes they might smoke in there too, its permitted to smoke.
I feel the restaurant used to be apart o mUmbai's Mill worker culture, when the FULL chai never existed coz it couldnt be afforded, when there were no bills given just announced. When the amount of maska in the Butter is a symbol of the prosperity of the store owner.
Merwan and cafes like it are a part of the legacy of the iranian restaurants that dot the city.
I say, check it out for the price, the service style, the culture and the number of tubelights inside (flourescent bulbs ;)

Fond memories come rushing back into my mind whenever I step into this place. Breakfast during college days was at B Merwans.
Hmmm the smell of fresh bread, omlette, mava cakes and macroom cakes. No one gives you bun maska or brun maska with more maska than B Merwan. So go ahead, dip the bun and brun into the tea .... that is the Irani way.
Note : Get there before 8 in the morning if you want to avoid disappointment. Their buns and bruns get sold out before 9.
