Have been going to Oven Fresh for years and years now and also make sure that every birthday celebrated has an Oven Fresh cake. Their cakes are legendary and some of the ones with liqueur can turn an ascetic into a sinner--they are that good!
The food is quite good too, though the place turned veggie a few years ago and hence lost many loyalists. Although I love non-vegetarian food and was equally dismayed at Ovenfresh going the veggie way, I felt their vegetarian food was good enough to continue going there--and of course their cakes are baked how cakes are supposed to be baked--with eggs (hope that never changes!).
But the horror at Ovenfresh is the service. The service at the shop area is very good--warm & friendly, but the service at the restaurant is abysmal. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give them minus 10; that's how bad the service gets. The waiters are consistently rude and unhelpful and lie through their teeth. They have a nachos dish that comes with a guacamole dip that I've enjoyed earlier. So I was surprised recently when they gave me a salsa dip though the dish I had ordered came with the guacamole dip, according to the menu. The waiter and then the captain had the gall to say that the salsa was the guacamole!!! And even after I pointed out to them that though I I was no expert I could differentiate between guacamole, there was no apology--both just disappeared and a different waiter got me the bill later.
We also went there recently close to 3 pm. We were worried that lunch hours were over, but we relieved on seeing the menu say that lunch orders were taken till 3:10 pm. Though we knew what we wanted, and called the waiters repeatedly, none of the waiters took the order and kept dithering. Finally at 3:10 pm, one of them came and said that lunch orders couldn't be taken since the kitchen was closed. It took some heated words for them to discover that the kitchen was indeed open.
In this case, though their food is good, I try and avoid the place nowadays because of the service--it's that horrible. Which is a pity, because Oven Fresh is quite a gem when it comes to food.

It is one of the best. I was searching around for such a place around and was able to find such a place. The croisaants served here especially the chocolate croissants are delicious. I was searching for them everywhere and finally found them here. The pastries here are simply great.
Keep up the good work

A bigger, better Ovenfresh now is every vegetarian's fancy... Pretty much like the eateries around Chowpatty (serving their uber-rich Jain clientele), the resemblance is striking and hits you the moment you unfold the menu...
'Twas a brief business lunch this time - a middle-aged Parsi investor (gentle enough to not hurl abuses for getting his a$$ into a no-chicken no-meat joint)... I refrained from trying any fancy food... stuck to the Garlic breads, corn with tortilla soup and club sandwiches. Good food- the soup could have been served better instead of throwing itsy-bitsy pieces of corn tortilla chips in the plate. The garlic bread was simply amazing... (99.99 percentile).
You can have your choice of Mexican, Chinese, Italian and other Indian stuff... Didn't see too much of innovation, they were good at what was printed on the menu...
However, the prices were not in conformation to the location, decor and in some cases (I extrapolate here) the taste. 120 bucks for a not-too-large portion of garlic bread is taking it closer to the Hyatts... It is more expensive than Cream Centre or New-Yorker (similar cuisine) although the clientele seems slightly more conservative (Malabar Hill v/s Shivaji Park... you do the math). Nevertheless, it's a good place for some quiet time over cold coffee (no hot beverages here) and fresh bakes. Toggled between 3 stars and 4; settling on 4!
Take-away breads, pastries, light snacks (a la Gaylord's) available...

This is a perfect combination of a fast food joint and a bakery.
You can pick up a wide variety of snacks like pastries, croissants, baguettes, sandwiches, pizzas etc.
At the same time you can also go for their dinning experience, with about two seating areas which are poles apart. One is painted completely with cartoons to make you feel like you are a part of a comic book and the other has a contemporary, classy look. The menu offers everything from pizzas, sandwiches, burgers to nachos, onion rings to sizzlers.
My personal favorite is their grilled sandwich which is served with some chips and coleslaw, surprisngly filling and delicious.
Though the menu is a pure vegetarian one the variety is huge and this place can be frequented for breakfast, lunch tea or dinner! It can even be visited by sweet lovers as they have ample choice of flavours to choose from .Be it chocolate truffle or chocolate moose they have it all!

Real value for money, assured good food (have eaten every item on their menu over the past 7 years). I strongly recommend it in spite of their now only vegetarian fare!
