I used to frequent this place often for the food. After one of the owner passed away, need for service and quality gradually disappeared as the younger generation took over. Quality of food now has deteriorated to below levels where hygeine is suspect while the cost of food has escalated three fold. The young turks are highly arrogant and inflexible.
Strictly an avoid if you want your stomach to be in order the next day. Liquor is highly suspect too and you may just end up with a swollen head.

Was introduced by a colleague way back in 1996, when it was a good, reasonable place with food & prices that fit the ambience. Now they do not.

the popcorn prawns (that's not what they're really called, but i like the sound of it) at this place are the perfect accompaniment to a cold beer at home. they are served with a wedge of lemon and some pure hari chutney, giving the perfect accents to an otherwise already-amazing drinking snack. i do believe they are lightly breaded and deep fried, but when you're in the lazy afternoon mood to crack open a brewskie and you need something spicy to balance out the cold, fresh Kingfisher, go for these spicy popcorn prawns at Lamba - unbeatable.

Lamba is that little hole in the wall which will never make it to the reviews of magazines or be part of any tourist map..however this is the proverbial Daimond in a coal mine (apart from being next to daimond garden)
Lamba was started by Mr Lamba some 20+ years agao Mr Lamba (whom i remotely know) is over 70 years old today and still himself selects the fish and prawns and makes the Masala and marinate used in the hotel.
now for the must haves
1. Prawn Birwani ---its so good that I make it a point to order it for each of my international partner who joins me for lunch....
2. Fried Rawas...its tender and hevenly
dont forget to ask for some extra green chatni its great too
3. Fried Prawns (amritsar style)
u will love that...watchout for the calories
4. Kababs & meats
all kinds are kababs are great as they are made in charcoal grill and marinated with mr lambas secret sauce..
all the items are very moderately priced
it is more a take away than a dine-in (originally designed for the truckers who are going out of mumbai) so go for it ....enjoy
