The burrp reviews prompted me to try out this place.
My ratings
Food quality - 3.5/5
Ambience - 3/5
Pricing - 2/5
Service - 4/5
What we had :
Three starters - Potato skins and two chicken skewers(chamuru & ??don't remmber name). Potato skins was good but had too little chicken for a dish which cost around ~180 The green sauce chicken skewers was good but the red sauce one was stricly average.
Mains - Mexican grilled chicken with rice. Pretty good and tasty although I had asked for a dish with no hint of sweetness and this did have it. Bad recommendation based on what I wanted.
Dessert - Mud pie was truly relishing and worth the 200 bucks we paid for it. Easily the best part of the meal.
Overall, I feel that a 20% reduction in price is definitely required to keep me going there.
This is a strictly one-time place as of now.

Sammy Sosa is a small Mexican restaurant situated in the heart of Oshiwara in Andheri. From the outside, you will not notice the nicely done up interiors. I loved the look and the feel of the restaurant, the stained glass work, the tables, the chairs and the illusion of space when it is actually a small area to work with.
The menu is descriptive, which is good, since most people are not familiar with mexican cuisine. It helps to understand what you are eating. We tried the Kababs, which is done in a Mexican-Iranian way, and the Mama sita chika; which was chicken. Both the entres were presented really well, and served good portions of chicken/rice/potatoes. What was really good was that the food wasn't "Indianized" to suit the Indian taste buds and actually tasted like Mexican Cuisine.
The food is priced above average, but I dont feel this is wrong
as I feel the owner Mr.Samrat is trying to cater to a niche market, and doing a good job.
The best part of the meal was dessert, we ordered sweet pancakes, and it was heaven!! It was so well done, if i wasn't already full with the entre meal, I would have called for more. I might just go to eat dessert to Sammy Sosas.
Overall, this is a wonderful please to have good mexican food. Mumbai needs more restaurants like this that serve specific cuisines, and not all chinese, indian, south indian, mughlai et al under one roof. I wish the restaurant success!

Sammy Sosa isn't an easy to place to get to if you live in South Bombay. Had a meeting that end and was able to make it for a late lunch.
The place is small but fairly bright, they seem to have the Mexican kitsch down pat. Seating is tight but comfortable and the whole place has a young vibe.
They dont have a liquor license but they could teach a thing or two about how a Margarita is made to just about any bartender in the city (FROZEN is where its at) just wish they were bigger.
The food is good, part authentic part Indian and part fusion. We got the nachos and the potato skins. Both were okay, not exactly tex-mex all the way but strong dishes nonetheless. Nachos should have been soft tortilla rather than chips based.
The main course was the enchilada which was excellent, i wish they could do up some mexican rice and refried beans on the side which would complete the platter. The other dish was the verdura verde, not bad but too much going on.
The dessert was not very mexican, honey and pistachio crepes. Top notch.
They said part of their problems is sourcing the avocados for the guacamole which in some cases they have to avoid serving if its not up to the mark. Similar issues with sourcing the right kind of beans and peppers. They do use Monterrey Jack cheese.
Overall the service was quick, the food was good and they are a young lot making a serious effort. hopefully things will get even stronger.
Plenty more things to try, hopefully i can swing another meeting in Andheri!

i recently tried this newly opened place in oshiwara..and to my surprize it was much better than than the some of the reviews which i had read..
to start with i was really impressed with the decor, which really showed that some efforts had been taken to make it look as festive as possible.
as far as the food goes..the quantity was a little less..but their taste covered up for sure..i tried the mama cita chicken .(or sumthing like that) very nice..really good sauses...
ya sure they can improve here and there..but its a new start up.time will only help them.
And not to forget, i really appriciated the personalized service of the staff, very helpfull and polite.
I wish them all the best..and would for sure suggest every one to try this place once and look at the positives rather than the negatives.
