Just good

I had two places in mind when i wanted to take my family to dinner - Saffron @ Marriott or Peshawari @ ITC Sheraton. I decided to opt for Saffron as i had heard a good deal about this restaurant in addition to the fact that I had already been to Peshawari.

As posted in the previous review, I agree that the server's initial indulgence on water choices was appauling. I was very displeased with the servers over-indulgence on most thngs from wine selection (he couldnt stop coaxing me to go for a wine bottle rather than a glass despite having told him that I would be the only one to drink) to Indian breads.

I ordered 3 starters - dahi tikka being the most delicious of all. Amongst the main course, thier paneer labarda was awesome. However the disappointment lie in thier black dal (I couldnt stop comparing this to Peshwari's or even Koyla for that matter). All in all the food was good but not great given the price & hype. For sure, I would opt for peshwari for better Indian food in a fancy setting.

Total damage for 5 = Rs. 7000 (incl a round of mocktails).

P.S. The iced tea they served was (seemed) right out of the Lipton sachets.

great food, rest is lacking.

Was at the Mariott for a dinner meeting and we couldnt figure out where to go. My friends picked Indian cuisine and so we trekked down to Saffron.

I went in with no expectations. The waiter conning the group with the old Sparkling vs Still and then the Evian vs Regular was quite disappointing. I didn't like that but then what else would you expect from a suburban 5 star?

Anyway, we skipped the starters and went straight for the entrees.
The dal makhani was incredible, the portions were fantastic and the taste was just toe curling. The paneer cooked with some pickled onions, served makhani style was again incredible. Best dish. The other veggies were not so good however.

The nans were ok but the roomalis were weak.

There was not enough papad to go around neither was the onion. They should have a look at the way the ITC serves their table.

The help was friendly but the water stuff sort of put me off.

Overall, fantastic food, a must visit.

Damage for 4 without drinks 3000
