Frangi ho ya Firangi

One of those places where the wife managed to visit first & give the signal.....Some friends had overseas visitors & all of them decided to celebrate.

Guess they took pity on me, at home with a torn ligament, sent the passat over to pick me up in style. Getting down, was mistaken by two ladies for a singer......accompanied to the level 3, where the greeter & chini mini threw some attitude, but Luck favors....the manager of the place, an old sun n sand friend whisked me & the ladies right in. Bid them good bye & sat with boys & girls to have a time...

Tried out a variety of starters all of them uniformly good, however the sauces, dips were severely lacking, had to constantly ask for refills.

After a gala time, demolishing a couple of bottles of fancy wine(don't ask the names); whiskey, tequila & what have you, paid(this is one amount that will be imprinted) but WTF someone else's entertainment bill....however luckily, checked the total...& lo there was a service charge quietly tucked in, so did restrain ourselves on the tip factor.

Overall a good place, where would definitely visit again, but the loud music puts you off, the mix of music does not go with the decor, service needs to be brushed up, particularly on a tuesday.

Will check it out when a buddy Keith vegas plays there.

The Great ambience

We went on Friday nite and since we reached at 8 it was quite empty but filled up fast. The restaurant is huge with a small dance floor. That day there was live music which the manager told me is usually on on Tue and Thu.

As other BJN restaurants the service and ambience here is really good.

Unfortunately the food lacks and is strictly ok. Maybe its just that no one can really pull off the American diner, I mean if you look at TGIF or Ruby Tuesday.

We ordered nachos and tortillas. The quantity of the salsa and cheese dip with the tortillas was very little and anything extra that you ordered was chargeable. The nachos quantity was huge but it was too dry with very little topping. The minestrone soup was also ok and the prawn starters my firends ordered were left virtually untouched. The pasta was also ok. The sizzling brownie was disappointing with too little chocolate sauce (the menu mentions double chocolate sauce I think) and on asking for more they are like its chargeable.

Damages: Not sure since it was a treat

It is a great place to go for a drink especially when theres live music but for food look else where.

Disappointment x 2

We were turned away twice last weekend.

Day 1 - Friday night - my husband and I walk in at 10:00. The east indian girl at the desk asks a manager if they can accommodate the two of us, he flatly refuses on hearing 'two people' and says 'tell them the wait is one hour'. The tone in his voice and the wave of hand gave me the impression that he would have been more kind had we been a larger group.

Day 2- Sunday night- Shameless foodies that we are, we want to give this new place in the neighbourhood one more chance. To be safe we get there at 8:30, arranging to meet some friends directly outside the restaurant. But since one of our friends was wearing shorts we were refused entry yet again. Ironically, that friend is a firangi.

Hostility personified - that too twice! But unfortunately, for lack of better places in our neighbourhood, I cannot say I will never visit this place again.

Average Lounge Bar and Eatery

Hello

I don't have much to say, since there was nothing very special I could find about this place:
- nice place for friends to eat
- nice place for drinks
- they do have a dance floor area, so you can dance too while you eat
- they have a bar area for chilling out..if you don't want to have a sit-down meal/drinks

OVERALL: Little over average prices, for an Indian restaurant-chain to do so, example - 140 Rs. for onion rings + taxes, 60rs for bottled water + taxes

If TGI's or Ruby Tuesday are charging such prices, I can imagine GOVT taxes, and international taxes coming in on those prices, but for an Indian restaurant to charge this exorbitant is a little ridiculous. don't you think ?

- Interiors are a good copy/mix of TGI and Ruby Tuesday.

1. Q' How does our govt allow restaurants to charge so high for packaged products, like bottled water if sold for 12 or 15 rs, should not be sold for more than 30 Rs max, diet coke max 40rs (unlike 150+ tax in ruby Tuesday), (they are not cooking the water, nor the Diet Coke)

I think there should be some price control on packaged products in restaurants and even 5 stars.

OK - if you want the math, here goes:
15rs water
+ 12.5%
+ 20% Service charge (which only hotels are allowed, that too only if ordered from the room, no restaurants are allowed service charges)
====
19.87 RS - this includes VAT + Service Charges, then why are products like water/diet cokes, allowed to charge more than that?

Please let me know if you agree, and someone out there can take any action ?
