Though this restaurant has been around for quite a while, I kept off it as the name and front door gave me the impression that it was just a drinking whole. That changed when looking out for a seafood place that would take orders after midnight. Remembering that someone had mentioned that Maharaja serves seafood, decided to check it out. Wasn't too wrong about the drinking hole impression....but the food is yum! We ordered prawns puli munchi, bombil fry and prawns gassi with neer dosa. All of it was excellent and I went back for more thrice in quick succession within a week for more. Made sure I ordered the prawns puli munchi each time. I've been warned though by my Manglorean friends that the Puli Munchi there is not all that authentic. But what the heck I loved it. Prices are low-moderate. Though I didn't drink there, I noticed that the cost of alcohol there is ridiculously low. No wonder there were large groups of kind of leery men bonding over their drink and not too many women around. The original Maharaja is supposedly somewhere in Oshiwara, but I'm yet to check it out.
