OMG!!! I haven't reviewed this place yet

I should have been the first to review this place considering the number of times I visit it in a week. :) So, everything about this place is excellent except for the music. They are always playing random stuff like kenny g and elevator music. We even left a comment in their comment card saying change ur music phulleeez after which I think they bought Worldspace. Now they play loud hip hop (LOL) Gosh can't believe I am saying this for one of my fav restaurants ( I am going to buying them an italian music cd soon :D ) Nonetheless, Nice family place. I love the Puttanesca pasta. For those of you who like tomato based pastas u cant miss this one. They have some delicious fruit concoctions as well. They also have a mexican menu too but haven't tried it yet. More on that later.

The Don is four-fifths happy

The last review I wrote on this place was almost 9 months ago, so I guess it is time for a new one. Here is a fresh perspective on a place I frequently visit.

I had dinner here last night with D and A.

First the good things - The food is good as always. I had the Pasta Del Fattore (Penne) and it was delicious. The base was a bit Indianized, but what the heck. The service was quick and efficient.

They even replaced a creamy base Don Vito pasta that we had mistakenly ordered.

Now the bad - The only reason I've taken out one star from the rating is the crazy hip-hop music they play. This is an family friendly Italian restaurant, I don't want to hear hip-hop and other songs that border on insanity.

ps - When you go to this place and notice the Al Pacino photo on their menu page, just tell him that I said "hi".

Don would be proud of this place, had it not been for their music, otherwise this place rocks!

Mama mia

It is very rare to come across a restaurant serving non-Indian cuisine and that too totally vegeterarian. And serving up good stuff at that.
This is a great place to hand a nice lunch. The service is prompt and the stewards are all pleasant and willing to help. In fact, my lunch partner mentioned that he was allergic to mushrooms and then while placing our orders, we decided to attempt a particular salad not realising it had mushrooms in it. This was pointed out to us by the steward. So I give full marks for their attentiveness.
The salads are fresh with the lettuce all crisp. However they use way too much olive oil in their preparations and you have to ask them to go easy on it.
In the soups, the broccoli and asparagus clear soup were definitely not clear. But they were both well flavored. What I really liked about this place is that they dont overdose on the flavoring herbs just to adjust the menu to the spicy Indian palate.
The sauteed aubergines were also divine, though there was too much olive oil in it again.
The penne pasta with tomato concasse was amazing. Unlike other
places where the tomatoa gravy is barely evident here the pasta had a good helping of the gravy, adding the right taste to it.
I skipped the dessert.
The menu is exhaustive and explains all the ingredients very clearly. which can come in handy for those who are ignorant of the Italian cuisine.
Great place, which I would definitely love to visit again.

Good vegetarian italian food

The choice of appetizers, main course and the second course (secondi) is extensive. They have everything from soups, salads, pastas, pizza, gelatos and everything italian that you can thing about, but with a vegetarian touch.

Even though it was vegetarian, it still served Italian food as authentic as you can get here in Mumbai. The service was good, the food excellent.

The only turn-off was the incoherent music that was playing. They should dim down the lights a bit and play something nicer. Maybe playing Jazz would give this place a little more authenticity.

The fusilli pasta (I dont remember the name, but it was B.11 on the menu) was done nicely. I recommend having a limoncello after your dinner.
