Tonite, I ate the forbidden fruit. And it tasted good.
To give you guys some background - I've been to a McDonald's only once in the past 8 years. Ever since I read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, I've hated McDonalds or for that matter any mass franchised fast food outlet. I had resolved that I would rather die than patronize the Golden Arches. But alas humans are humans, resolutions weaken and memories fade.
Tonite, along with my other two roomies I stepped into a McDonald's not far away from where we live. The place smelled good. The familiar smell of freshly fried fries. The place was packed with people of all shapes and sizes. From the superfit body shody types to the fat aunties with unruly kids. They were all lining up for the quintessential American icon. The staff was handling the place very well.
To stay on the healthy site (hehe), I ordered a McVeggie burger, fries and a cappuccino. My other two roomies ordered McAloo Tikki burgers, fries and their cokes. The McVeggie was good. They've adapted the food well to the Indian tastes. The prices are not insane either. A McVeggie + fries cost about Rs. 89. The cappuccino was Rs.25.
The tables were clean and the ambiance okay.
Forgive me lord for I have sinned. I'll have to spend some extra time in the gym tomorrow :(
