utterly disappointed

I won't blame them for the beer I did not get on a warm Sunday afternoon. They had not got the liquor license yet. But the rest sucked. We are used to the superb food and service of the China Garden at the Kemp's Corner and other elite chinese restaurants of the city. And this outlet has not got their act together.

Starters took huge time to come. The waiters did not have a clue. We pereferred the normal water and not the bottled one. Thus we were penalised by empty glasses most of the time during the lunch. They did not offer the customary tea. When asked, they forgot about it till pretty late and then gave a few cups and not to all. Midway through, we ordered another noodle dish. One of the hosts (in green jacket), who was the worst, told us that the kitchen is overloaded and it will be difficult. Finally we got our dish in two tranches!!

We had a 2.5 year old kid in our group who was behaving pretty well till then. Perhaps the loo was full or something, she suddenly relieved herself on the marble floor (not any carpet, mind it). The waiters, and this host, instead of making us, the customers comfortable, tried to make us embarrassed, by looking at us with blamimg eyes and gaping from afar in a circle. I then called the manager and told him to get a housekeeping person to clean up without making any further fuss.

We had given two credit cards to split the bill. This, we have been practicing, not only in London or NY, but in Mumbai as well. In spite of my explaining the process to them, it took them ages to figure it out.

And the food? It was ho-hum at best.

This is not the China Garden we knew of.
