Amazing DJ music!

The highlight of this new suburban lounge is definitely the DJ-music on the weekends. We are constantly on the lookout for new, loungy places to grab a drink and a few starters, and we had heard quite a bit about this place - even some whispers of this place being Henry Tham's joint, not not sure if that's true.

The place is separated into three areas - an outdoor dining area, and indoor dining area at the ground floor, and an upstairs lounge/pub area. We headed upstairs to catch a flavour of the nightlife. Sad to see that the scene was pretty dead - a few tables had been occupied by the BPO crowd which runs rampant in Mindspace, but no ready-to-party crowd. We were in good company, so it did not bother us much. We took refuge in a quiet corner table and ordered our first round of drinks. What instantly grabbed our attention was the amazing music the DJ was rocking - not just good selection, but great remixes of your usual Top 40, as well as some tasteful Hindi littered here and there. Where this DJ was a cut above the rest was his mixing/transitioning - very few times have I witnessed seamless and intelligent mixing from a DJ in India - but this guy was doing it - now whether it was actually him or a Mac program, I can't be sure about, but he had the attention of our ears all night long!

The one MAJOR minus point (and I almost subtracted two for it), is the completely uninspired menu. This might be a function of the locality, catering to more untrained taste buds, but we yearned for something move inventive. Amongst the combination of Indian/Punjabi, Pizzas and Chinese, we didn't have much choice but to go for tried-and-tested usuals (Crispy Vegetables, Kali Miri Kabab (some were still undercooked) and Bhara Kumb (stuffed mushrooms)). Food was good, but not what we wanted.

All in all, we were happy to discover a new joint where we can grab some beers, and listen to some great DJ music. It will be hard to continue to go here until they figure out how to add some more flare to their food. Hope Tham's menu can migrate up North. What say, Henry?
