Worst Sizzlers in town

I visited this place on a sunday night. Agreeable crowd due to the prominent spot and the weekend, but the service could have been better.
We ordered tomato soup which was as thin as water and equally bland for us to season it with salt and pepper to the largest extent. The garlic toast was ok.
We ordered the basic veg sizzler with noodles. The sauce was strictly ok and the french fries were merely half done. Barely had any vegetables in it (Yokos as compared has tons of vegies in it). Definetely had a poor after taste and to end it all - the credit card machine wasnt working and it was a cash only event (suprising to seee that happening on a sunday night to stay away from giving that extra % to the credit card agencies!)
I would prefer to grab some junk around at sukh sagar rather than going to this joint again.

I've eaten better

Since Kobe's at Chowpatty/Opera House is a really old joint, it needs no introduction in terms of ambience etc etc. Everybody knows that what started out as the only decent hang out spot for the college kids in the area is now a well established eatery. Infact what amazes me that this is the only restaurant which is actually allowed to serve non-vegetarian food in this otherwise die hard VEGETARIAN Kingdom. For that alone, I think Kobe deserves praise for standing up to all opposition!

So though Kobe's is good, serves good stuff, serves standard stuff, it is not really the place I would go for a good steak. It has a lot going for it - nostalgia being the prime factor, proximity to home being another, and one of the few non-vegetarian joints in the area being yet another. But it is lack lustre and at the end of the day, I have eaten better steaks. My pepper steak was particularly chewy, not the melt in your mouth ones I can dish up chez moi!

While the sizzlers sizzle into your ear and fill up your eyes with smoke, the diners on the next table are talking above the sizzle and considering the closeness of the tables and the constant filled to capacity restaurant, meaningful conversation ( at least in hushed tones) is not a possibility. However, if you wish to enjoy over hearing other people's conversations and watch what others are eating, Kobe's is the place.

But all in all, this place is decent enough for a quick meal ( since the place is always packed, the management is only too glad to get a quick turnover so service is quick and efficient). The biggest negative, though, is the complete lack of parking particularly on a working day .

bad sizzlers

The chicken Toridango sizzler I had was just too tasteless. One thing the management should understand is that they should not only make the sizzler look big but it must taste good in the first place. Always remember to put quality before qty. Also the chicken mince cutlets 4 in nos were 60 percent bread and 40 percent chicken (serve 2 instead of 4) but make it nice and without adulterating. Man u charge Rs 250/-. It is not at all difficult to make a sizzler as it is just dumping of unhealthy stuff on each other and make it more unhealthy by burning the stuff on a hot plate so at least one should not have a bad night after eating at a restaurant. I did have a very bad night. So please go slow on qty and give quality stuff. Even the veg sizzler my friend had was full of bland noodles. I feel the fort Yoko has much better brown sauce than the Kobes at Chowpatty. I always wonder year on year why people eat sizzlers so once a year I try it out too but to no avail, it gets worst and the qty increases. Maybe it is for people who like gluttony.
