The food is not as good as much been spoken about the restaurant. The service is bad. Overall an average place.

well, i was there last night right before the Transformers. We had a quick meal Kadai Paneer (Excellent, spicy, tasty) Nav Korma (heavy but sweetish, good) the Dal Makhani (very good again)
So overall the meal turned out to be pretty decent, no negatives at all.
Maybe you lot had an off day? Give it another shot.
Damage was aroune 1300 without drinks, which i reckon is a bit on the high side.

I had higher expectations of Moti Mahal Delux in Nariman Point, right next to INOX Cinemas. Alas, everything was just too plain jane for it to stand out in any regards. The only shining moment for MM was their service, which was prompt, and incredibly friendly.
We ordered two starters, an Achari Murgh Kebab and a Veg Tandoor Platter. It's not that they didn't taste good - they just tasted like what we could have fetched at some other average, much less expensive place. Of course, getting such excruciatingly average Mughlai/North Indian fare for the prices is very painful. We settled for a simple dinner of Daal Makhani and butter rotis. Daal Makhani was completely uninspiring and just tasted too much of a tomato base rather than the buttery lentils I've come to love. The Masala Chaas was too salty, and certainly not worth Rs 60!
All in all, if you're craving kebabs and Mughlai food, there are definitely other, cheaper and much more tempting options nearby. Head to Indus or Koyla in South Mumbai instead....

We went to Moti Mahal last night for dinner after watching the Simpsons.
The decor was nicely done and they were playing beautiful old songs - mostly Lata and Asha. Some of the songs were from the black and white era. The Mughal food, the beautiful music, classic decor. Nice so far.
All of a sudden they started playing Himmesh and some other recent crap music. This might've been played to make Pritam (yeah that music ripoff specialist) happy. Anyways, the Himmesh music turned the entire experience sour.
We ordered a Veggie platter for starters, which was okayish. Nothing home to write about. Next we ordered the Dal Makhani, which they claim as their original recipie and some butter rotis.
A very average fare. I've been surely been to places where the Dal Makhani is tastier. Hint - Indus and Kailash Parbat.
Best avoided, unless you are dying of hunger and don't forget to bring your earplugs along :-)
Ps - just added a star for their fast and efficient service.

took an outstation guest there a few days ago for some north indian fare. we got the usual paneer makhanwala, navratan korma, garlic naans, salad, lots of kingfisher. some prawn curry and chicken tikka.
overall the food was pretty allright. no complaints, the quality is good, the restaurant is well done and the crowd is a mix of expats and locals.
the only gripe is the service is afflicted by amnesia and they dont pay enough attention to you.
they could do with some more selection of dishes however.
overall good stuff and def better than the inorbit outlet.
