Underrated for Sure

I have been to this place a couple of times, and every time I have had a chance to dine/wine here, I haven't been disappointed.

Another reviewer mentioned that's its prices were reasonable, which surprisingly is true. With a name like "Irish Pub" one seems to think "oh crap how much is this gonna set me back...?", but the overall thing is, considering all the other choices we have in similar (as well as some inferior) leagues, you end up paying very much the same as you would at any other place (Sportsbar, MTC, Totos, etc.), in some cases its cheaper.

On a weekend, there is nothing more annoying than planning a night out, without any particular tension or stress as to where we wanna go and what we wanna do.

Getting to that place - and finding it full to the brim, afterwhich we drive around and find the same problem everywhere else... Its SAD.

In any case, more and more I yearn to find a place to kick back and just enjoy a drink without binge-drunk teenagers falling all over me, trust me - when I want that atmosphere (and I'm partial to it), I know where to go to find it.

Then there are those days, and weekends, when you just wanna chill out and talk about nothing in particular with a bunch of friends, within a certain budget (might I add), also would prolly like to mention that, it would be nice if the place you were at, wasn't trying to promote some sort of "hey-look-at-me-and-my-outfit" contest, its annoying to say the least.

Its almost like the pubs/lounges around are more interested in stuffing their places with bodies, than they are with providing a nice ambience for those bodies.

That being said, if this place ("Irish Pub") gets more decent reviews like the one before mine, I have a sinking feeling that here too, as has been the case with many other great establishments, it will be over-crowded in no time.

I must add also, these folks give you tremendous VFM on their veggie platter (I can't remember the name of it, but there was enough there for three people to snack on while drinking, without feeling like they were being short-changed).

I would necessarily recommend this place to those who DON'T want a crazy-party style atmosphere, its more for those that wanna have a place to go to, and chill out on a weekend; rather than think about the appalling crowds, subsequently staying at home with a rented DVD, beers and friends instead.

I would definately recommend this place to anyone who knows how to sip on a beer and just pass the time with their pals.

Highly underrated....

First of all, I was surprised that this place wasn't already reviewed on burrp. This chilled out pub with great music has been one of our regular haunts for a few years now. Wanna catch up with friends on a Sat night and down some beers without burning a hole in your most rugged denims? Add to that the reality that most decent joints are crammed to the brim on weekends. Thats where Irish pub steps in like the gallant saviour. Its a great place to hang out, but inexplicably, its rarely ever too crowded to get a table. Not that I'm complaining...! We dropped in last Sat, and believe you me, at one stage there were all of 3 tables occupied...on a Saturday night!!

They have a varied and innovative menu (one of the few pubs which actually has a more-than-decent selection of salads). The staff is pleasant, ever-smiling and efficient. The DJ plays some good retro (and other stuff if the crowd wants him to). They do hukkas in the outdoor seating section. Large projection screens air matches. The prices are very reasonable. The location's good. They have valet parking. Now tell me, what more does one really look for in a watering hole?

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot with this review...maybe won't get a table the next time I'm there! But I think I owe it to the guys...it was so depressing to see them idle (and yet enthusiastic) on a Sat night.
