Good food, but worth it?

Way back in the day "Copper Chimney" was THE place to go to for a great Indian meal, especially if you were talking about Butter Chicken.

I seem to remember this restaurant as being really swanky and posh, and the ultimate place to be taken out to by family friends etc.

Mumbai has always had these perennial favorties where families visiting from abroad would be taken to by their 'local' friends.

Copper Chimney has for a long time now, been one such place.

The last few times I've visited this place though, I have come to realize that although their food is great, in today's day and age, with our competative markets, "Copper Chimney", has sort of been left behind by the competition. I'm not saying that their service is any worse than it used to be, nor am I saying the food quality has declined.

Its just that 'back in the day', this restaurant used to be a PLACE to go to, now it rarely even makes the conversation as a suggestion of a place to go to eat.

As far as I'm concerned, you get better quality food, and far less 'posh' type places, and priced far far more decently.

Copper Chimney has been requiring a facelift for a while now, they need to target a younger generation in their ambience and presentation, good-old-fashioned service, is available at a lot more affordable rates, all over the city, I hope this establishment doesn't get left behind for its lack of keeping up with the competition.

Lets hope they get revamped and reinvented, for all us folks from 'back in the day' to relive some of our more nostalgic times in a place that isn't living in the past anymore.

Good kababs and biryanis

An upmarket place - good kababs and biryanis - although I once got into a squabble because the waiter served flat beer and refused to take my word for it (i just had to be firm and the issue was resolved) ... can be crowded in evenings ....another favourute of my friend & I.
