An impromptu afternoon session on the 30th dec 2006 with 3 friends deciding to have some beers in anticipation of the year end & all that jazz....
Went up the stairs....surprise some 5 friends had also the same idea....with the orders flowing, mobiles were whipped out & in no time more dropped in....by 2 pm there were 18-20 of us(bit diff to remember) Beer, vodka, gin flowed along with the lovely free chakna, interspersed with fish items, sukha chicken & mutton.
Finally it was the cell phone ringing from home, that decided to close the session at around 8pm
Been there a couple of times after that, met some unique people but never had such a blast.

Harish Bar and Restaurant seems to be one of those hidden gems in Mumbai that has its own loyal, quiet middle aged following. I suppose its target segment isn't your average 25 year old blogger who will rave about the place after a sumptuous sea food meal there.
I discovered Harish on Burrp! just a day after I happened to notice it on my way to Irla market. I took the review seriously, and the next time I happened to be there I ordered a tawa fried surmai fish, and a chicken fried rice to go.
The fish was truly delectable, and the slice was unbelievably huge - almost ten inches in length - all for a cool 90 bucks. The thing about sea food is sourcing. Sourcing good quality fish is 90% of the job - the preparation is actually quite elementary. Harish certainly seems to be sourcing his stuff from a good place.. :)
Verdict: Excellent place for take away sea food. Unbelievably cheap by Mumbai standards. Slighlty shady ambience. The guy clearly needs MARKETING!!

Ignore the location. Get upstairs and sit in the family room. Your taste buds are in for a treat. If you plan to come here on Wednesday or the weekend i suggest you call and speak to Sadanand - The trusted captain and tell him you are a friend of 'Roy' That should get you a booking
Most people come here to drink, coz the prices are cheap. But once you get a taste of the chef's specials you'll be coming here only to eat. The ambience is simplistic and that’s all that should matter, remember it’s the food that matters! Service is A-One and quality is ‘Like Mom made it herself’
I recommend the following dishes
- Prawns in Green chilly garlic sauce
- Stuffed Squids
- Prawns in peri-peri sauce
Wait... (My keyboard is gotten all wet from the drool) ok more
- Chicken Kheema
- Chicken sukha
- Any Crabs preparation - check if you want it de-shelled etc
And yes
- Squid in lemon grass sauce - -simply divine
Ok that’s enough, see you there!
