Are you kidding??

Ok, maybe I've been eating at some of the best restaurants for quite some time, but just the same on an absolute scale this place was horrible.

When I first sat down and saw the dirty menus and noticed the general uncleanliness I nearly walked out - and wished I had. I ordered French Onion Soup, some Scicillian Bread appetizer (bread with olives), and what was supposed to be the best and most popular chicken dish. I also ordered a small King Fisher beer after learning they didn't have any imported wine.

The soup was fair. Surprisingly there was no cheese for a dish that was supposed to be authentic. This was the best of what was to come.

The bread appetizer was terrible. After the first bite I forced myself to eat two of the five appetizer pieces of bread. I couldn't handle any more and waited for the main dish.

The chicken was essentially deep fried chicken served with a side of gravy and french fries. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind - but hey - I thought I'd give it a try. The chicken was very crunchy, which is good for fried chicken - but it had no taste! The gravy didn't taste good at all. The fries were fair but a bit on the soggy side (surprising giving how crunchy the chicken was). I ended up dousing the chicken with salt to add some flavor.

In the end I walked away still hungry and with a terrible taste in my mouth. I was very dissapointed by the earlier posts and although I have never provided reviews before I felt compelled to leave this to try to forewarn others who may feel compelled to try this restaurant.

Hope this helps.

Hmm.. Let's See..

So, the hardcore foodies that we are, my husband and I made a special trip to Pune this weekend - just to explore food options in this buzzing little town. Since we had just two nights to eat out we narrowed down our options to Malaka Spice and Arthur's Theme, after reading al the brilliant reviews on burrp. While we absolutely loved the vibe and food and Malaka Spice on Saturday night, dinner at Arthur's Theme was a bit lukewarm.

Firstly, the service was pretty sloppy. Let aside recommending, our waiter could not even converse confidently. The menu had just sooo much to offer that even after browsing through it for 15 minutes we couldn't decide what we should have. We ended up settling for Cecilia (some bruchetta with olives and sundried tomatoes) The tomatoes were very chewy but the preparation tasted good on the whole. Alongside, we asked for two glasses Chantilli which was the only red wine available. Next we ordered broccoli soup. This one was excellent - thick and flavourful. For dinner we wanted something light. We asked for herb tossed vegetables but the waiter didn't get it. So we asked for Columbus which was herbed vegetables on a bed of spinach with Florentine sauce. We said we did not want the sauce. The waiter insisted we get brown sauce instead. We said we did not want ANY sauce but the waiter STILL insisted have with 'brown sauce'. Whatever is this 'brown sauce' made of, prey tell me??

We gave in to pressure and ordered for two of the same dish. It didn't taste bad - just wasn't what we wanted that night. Tired and disappointed a little bit we asked for the bill. It came to Rs. 1600 for -

1 starter (cecilia)
1 broccoli soup (1 by 2)
2 Columbus
3 glasses of wine

We paid Rs.250 per glass of wine! We thought it was outrageous especially since we had bought that very bottle of wine from the chateau indage vineyards in narayangaon for a meager Rs. 500 earlier that day. Also, we had had a much bigger and better meal with a whole bottle of wine at Malaka Spice the previous night for the same price.

The strangest part was that we did not even get a bill for the wine. The amount was hastily added to the total in pen. Later it occurred to us that we were not even given a drinks menu. Everyone that asked for a liquor menu was told everything is available but 'there's no menu'.

Perhaps a good way of making some money on the side - Off the record!

Three stars to this experience only because we were really there to have a good time, enjoyed each other's company and the food was acceptable.

Pune's LITTLE ITALY

A very small place, u can just miss it coz d board is covered bu the trees around. I struggled to find it myself, but the food compensated for all d effort taken. A Completly italian menu but a very well explained one, it gives detailed explanations in english so u cant go wrong in ordering. I had d cordon-bleu-chicken n i must say it was simply out of this wiorld, it jus melts in d mouth, its got mushroom n spinach stuffing in a very cheesy mustard sauce. As u just slice d chicken n put it in ur mouth.. its just simply sinful!!!.. The ceaser salad was jus too yummy. u SHUD also leave some plc for their deserts. I had d tiramisu, which was simpy fabulous.. It a place too diff to pick a few good things.. almost all dishes r worth tryin..
I actually am falling short of words to explain this plc..
so have a blast...

must try place

I cant agree more with vivek. It is surely an under-rated place.

Being a vegetarian, I loved every bit of my meal there. But the unforgettable was tiramisu, one of the finest i have ever had.

The place has an ambiance of some small place somewhere in the country-side in Italy.

excellent european eatery

warm & cosy place to go for dinner , for an excellent & memorable european meal.
Serves Turkey. Choices gets a bit difficult as you want to taste everything on the menu....you cant go wrong with the food at this under-rated eatery which opens up for dinner only. The prices are reasonable and value for money.
A personal fav. of mine.
