I was at the Olive at Mahalaxmi with a few friends for lunch. It was reasonably busy but definitely not packed.
Positives:
1. Good Ambience
2. Ample Parking
3. Good People around
Negatives
1. Apalling food- Everything from soup to Salads to Pizza & sandwiches and Desserts were below par. Food was tasteless and meagre (imagine exactly 4 thin slices of Parma ham on a pizza costing about 500 bucks!!). I prefer Indigo / Indigo Deli or Basilico anyday for food.
2. Service- The waiters behaved as if he is doing a favour by serving us despite charging a 10% service charge on my bill. He was least concerned about our needs. The Manager/Supervisor (with long hairs) has massive chip on his shoulder. He was least bothered about our plight and turned his back on us.
3. Bad VFM - The products quality and quantity were not worth the price. I dont mind paying the same for good product.
4. Bad Stench - I dont if it was rain but there was a foul smell every now and then.
Sorry Olive, I will not come anytime soon unless your chef decides to upgrade his food quality and quantity significantly and your waiters start behaving like service professionals and not celebrities.

The race course is going to become quite a hangout towards the end of the year. Olive has opened their branch and the word is out that Indigo might be coming too. Good for us south bombay folk i say.
Anyway, for those who have been to olive in Bandra this one is similar yet different. it has the same motif the Sicilian walls, the chairs, you get the drift.
what they also have is the slightly aloof service which travels in from Bandra. The crowds were good, pretty people, thank god there weren't that many film folk around. they can stick to bandra as far as i am concerned.
Olive for me has never been the gourmet experience a la Indigo but more a place to see and be seen if that is your thing.
i liked the table bread, the soup was ok, the salad was bland but the pizza was pretty good. i didnt have any of the pasta that was ordered so i cannot comment.
overall, i dont think they have paid as much attention to the food as they have to the ambiance. the service is fairly lame but its a lovely place to have a glass of wine.
damage : severe i think the prices have risen too. 4400+ for 3 with 2 glasses of wine. i remember it being cheaper than this..
PS. Didn't see any kids their either.
PPS. Since the place is hot right now, make sure you get a table in advance. chances of a walk in are slightly on the slim side.
