Dissapointing

Getting a table at Gallop is akin to getting a table at China House it seems. We got there and throughout the evening we saw enough empty spaces, wondering why the bulls**t about no tables then.

We started with the Bloody Mary (excellent) and some ice tea (crap)

The appetizers were Paneer Shashlik which was fairly good, the fondue took too long to get there and wasn't all that great. Also the guys were so cheap with the bread, had to call for seconds.

The soup across the table was Mulligatawny which was very weak. Usually they do very well, this time it was like eating a daal rice soup.

The main course was Lasagna which was just way too spicy, enchiladas which tasted like the lasagna and mexican rice which looked and tasted like a pulao.

All in all huge disappointment. Service was fairly slow was well.

The ambiance and location of course continues to be stellar.

Awesome Setting & View to Die For!

Gallops - one of my fave restaurants that I have frequented for years...
Pro's & Con's -
The menu has limited variety for the vegetarians. The Punjabi/Mughlai food is average to good...
They serve one of the best Steaks and European cuisine in town...The pastas and Nachos are good..
The interiors and settings remind you of the erstwhile British / English atmosphere...
The view is just amazing in the monsoons as the huge windows overlook the Race-Course lawns
Do try and get a table close to the window as the view of the race-course is awesome - brings back memory of the lawns in London...Pricing - averagely expensive. Meal for 2 (without drinks)will set you back by around Rs.1000/-
Cheers,
Ajai Bathija

I can't get enough of their baked fish!

This place is definitely on the pricey side, but the food makes it totally worth it. i've been there time and time again, and i can't remember ever leaving wondering why i paid so much.

whatever you choose to call for is great, the ambience is great, wooden work with a modern touch to an old-world feel. Hope that makes sense. It's perfect for your little soirees or the big get-togethers you might have planned. hell, it could even suit romantic get-aways.

i highly recommend it, it's one of my favorite joints in mumbai and yeah...try their baked fish!

Consistently Reliable and Great!

Went there for dinner last night after a while and I have to say that Gallops never ceases to impress. Whether it's the Indian or the Continental, the food is always great, the service is always superb, the ambience is always cozy and the price is always right. That's 4 out of 4 - you really can't go wrong with that!

Last night there were 5 of us out to dinner. We ordered mainly Indian fare (Achaari Chicken, Bhuna Gosht, Tadka Daal, Jeera Rice and an accompaniment of Tandoori Rotis). Once person in our group opted for the Continental meal (pan seared Rawas rubbed with Sun-Dried Tomato paste and served with a creamy Mustard sauce). All the dishes were really great and we all thoroughly enjoyed the dinner (the wierd mish-mash of Indian/Continental cuisine not withstanding!).

Total hit to the pocket-book: About 3.5K

Add the fabulous atmosphere and the attentive, friendly service to the great food and good spirits at Gallops and you have yourself a night on the town!
