Racist Dharavi Pirates in a Boat at Banrda

Dear unknown friends,

Hawaiian Shack is a ripoff pirates on a boat.....My friends insisted that its THE PLACE TO HANG OUT, The "Cool" place to be in....so couldn't resist to check it out..

Well, at the gate itself there were four or five Bouncers cum cover chargers cum face controllers cum racial discriminators.

There is lot of discrimination and face control in HS...Some dudes were let in even when they were in groups, while some dudes who wanted to check the place out but were not upto their face mark were not allowed.... saying stags and groups are not welcome on weekends and there is also some party going on..

We were waiting for our friends to come and i saw one couple being charged 1000 each while other being charged 400 clearly based upon looks and dress.

Some group couples got the shock of their party life when they were asked to shell out 8000 bucks while it clearly should have being 4000, 1000 for each couple..but they charged 1000 for each one of them cos they were not upto there mark in face and dress....They left grinding.

Then came the masters of the universe....a blonde and white dude...and .voila...the bouncers and the managers face lit up....they literally stood up ..shaked hands (they never did that with any Indians) and one bouncer went with them inside what looked like being a guard :o)

I had lost interest seeing discrimination happening in India..i had seen enough abroad...but my friend were over the moon seeing the babes go in and wanted to get in at any cost.

Yes if you are single girl, its still 400, but be ready to be asked 100,000 times by single guys inside,

Well, finally my friends arrived and in the waiting time...i saw outright discrimination based on looks, dress and ..yes..if you wear glasses, 90% of the time you will be charged 1000 even if you are with your gf and if you go alone with glasses...be ready to be knocked out by excuses from bouncers.

Well...Inside..what can i say....Its a veranda shorter than my house with a boat at the end...with couple of snooty s serving you the drinks and to give a Hawaiian look....recruited east Indian babes..who are by the way the only positive thing as they are polite and attentive to the orders.

It just gets crammed over and over as the time goes by, and the music ..God..when will they stop last Christmas and hotel California as if to show their theme is old 80's music...which of course is but to what end..they should keep that thing playing again and again and again..

All drinks are overly priced...hell..you wont even find that in states or even in Hawaii for that matter.

250 bucks for a shot of Bacardi...250 whiskey.....250 to 300 for half cooked chicken pops..by the time..you had your third drink...your 1000 coupon is over and the snooty will ask for your credit card.

If this place would have being in Hawaii or Thailand or Moscow...it would have being closed long time ago..

What i found disgusting was discrimination between Indians based on looks. We were let in, but i lost interest, seeing other being shooed away .

I have heard about blacks being turned away in HW long time back, with excuses that they were selling drugs inside.....but that trick wont work with Indians..so they come up with all sort of silly excuses to keep guys away..who they think are unfit in looks.

Guys...If you want to witness outright discrimination and have any doubts about what i said...just go today being a Saturday and wait for just 15 minutes near the gate to get disgusted.

I wish, we as an internet community strongly protest , the discrimination shown by HW, so that they could come to their senses.

I will post this in other forums as well, as i what i saw really left a bad taste.

Please do not go to such places.

Only wish they had a dance floor...

Had wanted to visit since a long time since people strongly recommended. It was totally different frm what I expected. What can I say. I just loved this place. Best place I have been to in a while.

Basically it has three floor but the ground is the most rocking. The first & second have decent music but are kind of empty more like resto bar so went preferred the ground floor.

Music: What can I say. It has the most amazing music that totally makes your feet move.

Crowd: is good and the place is totally packed with no space at all. If you want a decent place to sit or stand for that matter its better to reach a bit early because it gets quite packed.

Service: Well considering the place was soo packed I cant blame them but the waiter just disappeared after our second order and never came back.

Drinks: Very fine though possibly the smallest glasses Ive ever seen.

Its highly recommended and a must go for the music. Only wish they either had a dance floor.

Shack a Laka a Boom Boom

Hawaiian Shack- Where do i begin???

Well, lets start with the music. The place has three floors, I will only comment on the ground floor where they always play retro to alternative rock. The first and second play house, hip house and bollywood music.

The upside- the songs will elevate your mood; the downside- you will generally hear the same song in the same flow the next time you go there. The issue: you will still go there cos there is a serious dearth of places where you can enjoy good music with a good ambiance and some good people.

The people- Since Shack is situated where Khar ends and Bandra begins, it's always managed to have a good crowd of well dressed, well behaved people. It's not one of those places where you see too many men staring about; its a place where people don't get aggressive when your hand hits someone while dancing cos they know you didn't intend that in the first place, and they don't mind if you place your drink at their table cos you don't have a table of your own (this last one's probably because they have been in the same situation before themselves). Towards the end of the evening, everyone's singing along and shaking a leg to the good ol' retro tracks.

The place- It's nicely done, a bit claustrophobic due to the use of too much dark wood and dark lighting, but you take it in your stride.

Now, this is where I will come to the element of Hawain Shack- its usually crowded, the music on the ground floor is repetitive, and the drinks and food is higher than average. If this was the case with any other place, ideally people would refrain from going there, But Shack never seems to lose its crowd. If its does lose a few fans, there seems to be no dearth of people waiting to get in. So, the magic is working!!
