This is the freshest review I have written till date. The taste of garlic & mushrooms still lingers on my mouth. Going to Don Giovanni was an impulsive decision.
I suppose its authentic Italian but for Indian palate, the preparation will seem too simple. The breads were lovely and flavourful, but the pasta was tad stiff & quite greasy.
So all in all it was an average experience. Go there once but not twice :)

Stopped by to take home one of their reputedly magnificent pizzas. It was about 12 in the afternoon and they were just open. I ordered my pizza frutti di mare and went window shopping. Came back half an hour later and the pizza wasn't quite ready. It was alright, i was willing to wait. The Don himself was present and would have none of it, he made sure my pizza was the first thing out of the kitchen. He insisted i sit and eat in the restaurant and offered me a beverage since i had to wait so long. True hospitality. We then struck up a conversation about italy and travel. He is an excellent host, not to mention the Pizza was unbelievable. I will definitely be returning soon. Mamma Mia, Don Giovanni e Molto Benne!!!

Since i'm quite an italian food lover.. i chose this place for my 20th B'day dinner this yr..but alas!! (wat a disaster!!) it did not live up to my expectations
(i'd relied on the 'good reviews' given to it on this very site! hence am inspired to add my own review for better guidance!)
Ambience is quite NICE n lovely..But in the middle of a Mall? NAaHh..Waiters? too many, n who by-the-way are perpetually busy staring at the tables n their occupants! music was okay..gud formal touch..bt without any impressive service..
well we began off with sm basic chicken soup(Rs.200) ..which was simply made up of boiled water that remains back after the chicken is cooked! ...along with chunks of chicken in it..i've definitely had Better man !
The sole chicken starter was (again!) 6 mid-sized chunks of chicken tossed in a basic butter-garlic sauce..ordinary to the core..n that also for Rs. 400 !!
(I would also advise u'll against trying the side along bread that they offer (as complimentary!!), its vry rubbery with too much egg..)
then came the bland chicken pizza for Rs.450..it was nice'n'cheesy, BUT 4 the fact that we'd asked for a spicy one!!
..nothing great at all..disapointing..considering its a speciality restraurant..!! ..for heaven's sake, show some respect for italy man..!
..& to top it all..the chicken main course (Rs.550approx) consisted merely of 2 measly pieces of sauteed chicken breasts..with a chunk of mashed potato as garnishing! neither was it cooked well...nor was it easy to cut..
fortunately the mocktails were our saviours..the luna-na-lagoon (Rs.190approx) was nice n tangy...n so was the peach margarita..(Rs.170approx)
However, i conclude that their inability to serve my favourite Pina Colada counted against them big time..coz a celebratoy meal without a colada is such a waste man..!
...wont give negative marking to it..but no positives either!
Some may wanna cover up for them by sayin I didnt try their "best dishes" ...but honestly, they got nothing right..! right from the starter, soup, main course to the PIZZA!! ordinary..
N looking at the ridikulus right side of their menu, didnt even bother with the wine..! any sane person would go over to Ivy down the street n have better wine for much lesser!!
Lastly, Take my advise n never ruin ur b'day (like i did!) at this place..1stly the high prices, 2ndly the ordinary food and 3rdly u hav to pay for other ppl having it n calling it names later!

Finally got to DG last night after canceling thrice. The place is fairly small and they have rules (good thing) regarding clothing, kids and reservations all of which sounds great but seems weird considering they are based out of a mall.
Anyway, the decor is typical dim lighting, minimum spacing and there is no real bar. The menu is fairly expansive so there is plenty to try for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I would recommend getting a proper menu made rather than printouts which seems cheap.
The chef is of course Italian which is very evident in the first page itself where he reminds you that the first basket of bread is free but then on its 50 bucks for bread and 50 bucks for Olive oil. Last time i checked we didnt levy bread charges. whats next ? cover charges for restaurants. This isn't Venice. Also the bread isnt worth 50 bucks. sorry!
We started of with the Pasta Fagioli which is pasta and beans. This was an average soup, nothing great, they didnt offer a Minestrone on the menu either.
The Bruschetta was tomato and olive oil, slightly on the saltier side but not bad. Although no one at the table was impressed with it. I have had some tremendous Bruschetta across the street at the Ivy.
The main course was Lasagna which was excellent, just the right bake and sauce. Worked well. The Risotto and this is what i reckon we should judge restaurants by was bloody weak.
There are tremendous risottos available in this city (Basilico, Moshe, Celini) What i got tasted a lot like a Khichadi and even looked like one, if they didnt have mushrooms i would have had to ask for some yogurt and papad.
The tiramisu was too creamy but had plenty of liqueur.
The place is dull and constricted, the food is unimaginative and joyless.
There is plenty to try so maybe another visit before i really make up my mind.
The service was fairly slow too, good thing i asked them for the entrees before the appetizers came in.
The pricing for 3 without drinks was 1900. I could drop maybe another 600 bucks and have a great Italian meal at Celini)

went there with great expectations -should say place is average but then not wat i expected the place to be -hv eaten better pizza else where
had a soup,fabulous salad,n a medicore pizza
well the other thing doesnt sink into me is the location - formal restaurant in a food court where ppl simply come 4 a picnic -formal restaurant in a place like that is like havin a place in a jungle --but certainly will go there again to sample more food
