seriously...the staff sucks...initially the food used to be good but the last time i ordered it was bad...the nans were like chewing gums..i wish they change the staff especially the guy at the counter who actually has the audacity to talk rudely to the customer..

I went this place after reading the reviews here and i must say, i had high expectations. But it didnt quite turn out as well as i would have expected it to be.
First the staff was quite arrogant. As if they were themselves feeling a burden by being alive on this planet earth.
I ordered one Kebab Guldasta (Veg). The portion and assortment was nice which included 3 types of kebabs, 1 portion of paneer tikka, 1 butter naan and one serving of chutney.
there were 2 pieces of each kebab and paneer tikka. the chutney serving was ridiculously small, infact its enough for just one piece of paneer tikka, forget about the whole meal.
out of 3 kebabs, 2 were made of sweet corn, so it was quite repetitive.
butter naan was quite big and should be sufficient for one person. (be careful by default they add one extra butter naan, so make sure you tell them whether you want just one or more naans)
the biggest drawback in the combo was the lack of any gravy dish. butter naan with kebab was quite dry. one serving of fal makhni would have taken this combo forward by leaps and bounds.
so overall each item served in the combo tastes good individually but as a combo they didnt quite gel.
if indeed you want to try the Kebab Guldasta (Veg), i strongly suggest ordering one gravy based dish, dal makhni or something like that.

One of the few places i trust in Mumbai with butter nans to be just the right amount of cooked inside the tandoor and the right amount of softness when they get on your plate, and then the right amount of butter applied on them. Coming from North India, I am pretty particular about all these nuances when I am supposed to eat at a North Indian joint around here. And I say, the Naans are pretty big and one would suffice for a single person
Having said that, the Kebabs and their Chicken are also kinda perfect. Their portion sizes are also huge. For a 100 bucks you get one portion of kebabs/meat/gravy and one big butter naan which is good enough one. The various offerings include chicken tandoori, mutton and chicken kebabs (dont remember if they serve fish also!) and then there are the veg kebabs and veg gravies incase you want to catch a veg meal out here. Top it up with some ice cream from next door Birdy's and you'll get out of there Burrping!

If you are in a tearing hurry and are a fussy North Indian (about your food .. that is..) - Shamiana is the place. Fantastic Nan's , great kababs. I simply love the chicken tikka masala with nan. Food is served really hot. Once cold - it's not edible.
