Have been eating here since I was in school the Pattice chole still tastes the same like it used to before no change of taste that's why most of the local residents prefer going here the lassi double paani in the big glass is superb.. Rates are good and very affordable too.overall a great eating place for a good heavy breakfast..happy eating :)

  • Easy if you're easy going 2011-07-29

Yes, the title doesn't match my rating. The bhatura here is the best I've ever had (and I've had plenty, being from Delhi), but the chhole, though nice, doesn't match the sublime perfection of the bhatura. Rider: reviewing chhole is dicey, because every region in India has a different way of preparing it, and perhaps I'm seeking a Delhi flavour, which isn't practical.
As for the place... it's small, efficient, no-nonsense, reasonably clean for a hole in the wall sort of joint and perfectly comfortable for me to sit there and eat alone, a single woman, without being checked out, at least overtl

  • best chole bhature in town 2011-07-13

Every Vivekananda College student, every Chembur camp resident and almost every sindhi foodie will readily vouch for this place as one of the best places to eat chole bhature and chole pulav. The place takes one to narrow delhi streets where huge cauldrons fire away with hot oil and bahutre bobing up and down and the delectable smell of pindi chole caging the entire place. A meal in under 40 bucks, this pace is a steal.

Verdict: Must try for every fried food junkie. Avoid if you are overtly conscious of hygiene and comfortable seating. Coz this is street food at its best!

  • yum yum! 2011-06-02

iv eaten here numerous times, but can never get over the taste.. beautifully flavoured, perfectly cooked, amazingly yum.. no gimmicks at al.. its consistent too..
even the ambience is consistent- lol! the decor is the same from the time india gained its independance i gues! :D
its by the street, smal, cramped, rundown condition, dingy, etc etc..
but to a hardened mumbaikar who's eaten street food and immunised their stomach, it shud hardly matter!
the chole-puris, the dal pakwaan, everything- to die for! very authentic taste.. MUST TRY!
just concentrate on the food.. its

If food is religion, Vig must be a pilgrimage. Amazing Sindhi and Punjabi food. Great place. Highly recommended to people who love authentic north indian food, without counting on calorie intake.
I have been here at least 10 times in last 6 months. And I am dying for more visits.

  • delicious 2011-01-10

Visited Vig yesterday for brunch. Delicious is the first word comes to mind when I think about the place.

The ambience is downmarket. Don't expect much in terms of comfort either.

But the food is amazing. The kulchas were hot off the tawa and filled with the most well prepared stuffings (paneer, onions, cabbage, potatoes, etc) and topped with a dollop of white butter. Chole was just right - not too spicy or oily and there was a piece of pachranga pickle in it to give it a zing.

Thumbs up to the masala puri and pattice as well.

    Next time - daal pakwaan

  • Awesome daal pakwaan 2010-07-07

They make the tastiest Daal Pakwaan in town (sindhi delicacy). I like it even better than some of the specialty restaurants in Khar. They start business at about 7AM which is great if you're a nocturnal creature like I am.

They also do Chole Bhature, Samosas etc. And a rice/pulav with dal spread on it for lunch. I'm not a fan of these items here, they're way too oily for my taste.

The daal pakwaan is awesome, do try if you're in the area.

Ambiance is very realistic. There is no air conditioning and it can get crowded after about 9AM. Service is fast enough.

  • wah kya khana hai! 2010-07-07

Vig is a Dabha type snack restaurant situated at chembur camp, famous for its Indian nashtas, typically made in a village style. Every morning you’ll find people eating the most well known dish called ‘Dal Pakwani’ for Rs.36. I would ask every mumbaikar to taste this dish. The authenticity of this dish is unique at Vig. The hard & crispy puri along with 2-3 varieties of dal mixed together and a little pickle dropped over the hot-steaming dal along with a glass full of chilled Chaas with chaat masala sprinkled on top is what makes a perfect breakfast at Vig.
