Having read reviews i was tempted to visit the restaurant thinking they would offer something new on the menu. I was disappointed. The Duck with plum sauce was acceptable but sweet. The duck however was chewy and had a sandy texture. Probably our desi ducks are built that way. The dim sims are indeed expensive. For a plate ( 3 dimsims) one pays Rs220. Ambiance ok and spacious. There are better restaurants in South Mumbai. I would skip this one. Its over hyped.

  • Vong Wong is a place that you must visit. 2011-12-16

I recently visited Vong Wong and the food was truly authentic. I ordered the Tom Yum soup which was sour but tasty and good. The asparagus and mushrooms in oyster sauce and stir fried " Ho Phun Noodles " are definitely worth eating. It's a very nice place which you must visit.

The restaurant has enormous space, which is an unexpected and pleasant experience in SoBo. The high ceilings, large and well spaced out tables do wonders for its decor. Their service is good too, whenever I have been here, I'm always asked at the end of each course if I am enjoying the food.
The food is not bad. I wouldn't describe it as below standards in any way- it doesn't fall short of expectations. there is nothing exciting about it either! There is never a bad dish, but no dish to especially recommend either. The restaurant is a bit pricey.
I find it better value when I go for their

  • A Nice Dinner 2011-05-22

Vong Wong is a place for good Chinese food. It is not of the levels of a 5 Spice but a notch above it. The service is attentive, fairly quick, and and the guests at the restaurant speak for its quality.

It is reasonably priced keeping in mind the ambiance and the service provided. A meal for two costs between 1250-1400 only for food. Add extra for beverages.

I was disappointed by the lack of choices for main course - 5 chicken gravy dishes - 2 thai and 3 chinese. Similarly for seafood, lamb and vegetarian. They had the regular sauces - Black bean, sichuan and spicy peppercorn,

  • Expectation management !! 2011-02-14

Was here for the sunday brunch last week with very high expectations as we had a blast at the same place last year in August.

However, came back a little disappointed this time. Had booked a table for 6 after asking them for the brunch rates with alcohol. But after arriving on Sunday, they tell me that its a dry day...they had forgotten to mention that earlier.

The food too was average and definitely not as good as last time (maybe the alcohol worked wonders that time).

The setting is nice for sure..but didnt quite enjoy the overall experience...wasnt bad but not

Totally agree with this title. When one tries to copy a menu from other restaurants near them they have to deliver similar food or it won't work. We had something that resembeled dimsum and main course was a confused attempt of Chinese food

  • A great brunching experience 2010-11-22

It is strange that despite being a fan of Chinese food it took me so long to finally get to Vong Wong. And now, surprisingly having gone there two weeks ago, I managed to go there again yesterday for a birthday celebration.

Both meals were at lunch time where Von Wong's fantastic buffet spread is the main attraction. Large and airy, Vong Wong has some tables that can be curtained off so that private parties can truly enjoy their own space without disturbing the other tables.

My first brunch experience was a sedate ladies' lunch in the middle of the week where we encountered other

  • We beg to differ - Good service and food 2010-06-20

We visited Vong Wong on a Saturday night. Weren't expecting anything great due to the bad reviews received for it's food and service, but were pleasantly surprised by both.

We had gone there because we had a discount coupon, and needed to redeem it before the end of June 2010. Service was prompt and courteous. We were led to our seats and drinks order taken and executed in no time after arrival.

The person taking our order was helpful with suggestions, when we couldn't decide on which starters to choose. Finally, we had 2 different dimsums - the curried chicken with basil

    Vong Wrong

Von Wong’s décor is still as aesthetically appealing as it was the day it opened and continues to exude chic. Not one of my usual haunts, it was certainly one I like to visit once in a while for a little Oriental variety.

The fact that I found an insect on my plate could have been considered an ominous sign but I decided to not give it a second thought and instead, was excited about digging in to some late night ‘dim-sum’. Instead, the duck spring roll and prawn toast were too oily, the prawn dumplings had tiny, unappetising, dumpling foetuses attached to it and the
