Thane is located to the Northeast of Mumbai. It is surrounded by scenic hills, the hill of Yeoor and Parsik Hill. It is divided by Thane Creek. The city has around 30 lakes, earning it the sobriquet of Lake City. Masunda Lake is the Biggest lake in Thane and is also the Most visited lake by all age groups. The lake offers boating and water scooter facilities. The Upvan Lake is located at the foot-hills of Yeoor hills and is a scenic spot. It is flanked by the Yeoor hills on one side and the tall Neelkanth Heights on one side. It is a common spot for people to hang out and refresh themselves. Many of the lakes have facitlies like boating, gardens for kids, jogging/walking tracks. Evening you can see them crowded with youngsters. The scenic locales, old forts, boat rides and resorts make Thane a great getaway from Mumbai.
