Great Great Ambience...average food ....worth a day out though!!
Though I have given one rating for this joint I would want to split into 2 basis the ambience and the food. To be point blank-this joint would score almost a 5 on the ambience and not more than 2.5 on food. So it would average out to say 3.5 assuming equal weights.
For the ambience part- Well it’s pretty far away from the city. The entry fee is 500 bucks all inclusive but the games and rides are extra but nominal at around 15-30 bucks. Would take around 40 mins from powai to reach but the drive isn’t bad at all.It opens at 5 in eve and goes on till 11 at night. We were the earliest arrivals and were greeted by the traditional tilak and dhol routine. This place is decently big with excellent nooks and corners to sit and lovely charpais to laze around in open air. There is a free head massage and some balloon shooting ,bow and arrow ,darts etc apart from camel, bullock cart and horse rides. There are astrologers ,a lovely hanuman temple and a medium sized manual giant wheel to keep you busy. The activities are also amazing with traditional rajasthani folk songs, puppet shows,Stilt walkers, dance ,fire breathing, dancing with naked feet on crushed glass and many more activities taking place. There is a lovely section where you can wear traditional rajasthani costume and jewellery and click photographs –for 200 bucks they will send you a A4 sized hard copy to your home-postage included. There is a traditional rajasthani clothes shop and accessories shop as well.
For the food part its disappointing . For starters they only have kachori with kadi & tea and you have to make do with it till dinner time which starts at arnd 8 . You have to take a slot for dinner as there is a rush but if you have a late slot then there is only that much kachori you can have. We came to know later that at a far end corner of the place there is a live chulha where ladies will feed you bajre ki roti with butter however they don’t have any signage and if you are first timers like we were you will miss it. I think I was really angry with the guys for this as it seemed they really were not keen to feed you .
For the main course the usual suspects are there, dal bati, gate ki sabji etc. however the food was cold and not flavorful. It wasn’t bad and much better than what you would get in main city but having travelled all the way it certainly is below expectations. The saving grace are the malpuas which were lovely and hot.
Overall ,a good experience but wont go there for food…but definitely for the experience
We went there on Christmas eve. The entry fee was the same as that on a normal day, which I think was good.
I expected some kind of celebration inside, but there just one lean Santa Claus roam around. Secondly, the number of facilities and attractions were below average considering the facilities in other centers (Jaipur & Pune).
Food was Bad. It ruined the entire experience of 2 hours that we had there.
