“Our very own office party restaurant!”

Lucky Dragon is the first name that comes to our mind whenever we have a team outing/team lunch. Crisp menu options, courteous staff, hot & tasty food at a good price. I have been here a number of times and have always enjoyed the food & the place.!!

A place you can rely on for good Chinese....

I came across Lucky Dragon, when I was scrolling through a list of Chinese Restaurants I could order from. It was about 2:30pm, I was hungry and according to the timings mentioned, it shut at 3 pm. So I made a quick decision, and thought of giving it a go. I ordered for their Chicken Pot Rice and Butter Garlic Chicken for starter. All the time, while waiting for the food I was just hoping it wouldn’t be a disappointment. And it wasn’t. The aroma of Butter Garlic Chicken escaped from the box as soon as I opened the lid and made my stomach growl. It had a good amount of Butter Garlic Sauce, therefore not making the starter too dry.
The Pot Rice, as in most of the restaurants, came with a gravy of it's own. The Rice was stir fried in butter and had turned a light brown in colour. The gravy, medium spicy had a good amount of Chicken pieces along with Button and Shitake Mushrooms. Didn’t know this prior too ordering, as it hasn’t been mentioned on their Menu Card. Luckily for me (and them) I love Mushrooms, but as for the ones who don’t, they are in for some bad mood.
Anyway, every time I’ve ordered from here I ask for the same dishes, I think even they know it by heart by now. There was just this one time where I ordered for a different starter, I think it was Mongolian Chicken, and I didn’t like it very much.
Another thing to order would be their Manchow Soup, which is very rich, as it has a thick creamy texture, and comes with some crispy noodles to top it up with.
All in all, this is the place to eat Chinese from, as it won't be too hard on your pocket.

good food, average service

The place looks more like a dungeon than a restaurant. The food tastes good, has a little better than average quantity but definitely below average service. Below average service because the staff will not entertain you if you are done with your food and you will be asked to vacate the place. We called for 2 soups, egg fried rice and a chicken in hunan sauce gravy and the damages done was a good 650 rupees. For a restaurant with that kind of an ambiance, average service, and limited food paying that much i feel is a tad too much.

Chicken toss is not that good

Visited Lucky dragon today and ordered for Chicken toss noodles! Didnt like it at all. It was too sloppy! There were hardly any chicken pieces in it and didnt have too much spice in it either. We also ordered for chicken crispy which to be honest tasted like indian pakoda/bhajiya. The service was quick. Ambiance was good, it was too cold in there and the music was a little loud! The servers were really friendly :)

Serves good food

They serve the most amazing crispy chicken in town. It's the best ive had so far, properly spiced, crispy and hot! I also loved their toss up noodles, pretty decent. The ambience is red and warm, since the place isn't very big use of light colors would have made the appearance really nice. But the current one isn't bad. Nice place to go eat out on weekdays.

Also do try their paneer chilli dry, lemon coriander soup, spicy noodle soup, golden fried prawns, veg fried wantons, crab soup and Kung Pao Chicken. This place is absolute value for money.

Five Spice's Poor Cousin

Have been here on a couple of occasions since my workplace happens to be just next door. Its a small little restaurant which is quite decent and hygienic. The service is very brisk and they have a friendly wait staff. Coming to the food, have eaten the korean veg and non veg fried rice that comes infused with a thick gravy. It was good but found it a little sweet for my liking. Have also had the tossed noodles and a crispy schezwan starter and they both were quite delicious. Not very pricey. A bill for two would't exceed INR 500 even in the case of people with fairly large appetites.

Non fussy food

This place is like an office canteen for us. We end up going there for lunch almost every day. The owner is always smiling and caters to all our mad requests. The paneer chilli dry, spicy noodle soup, lemon coriander soup, steamed wontons, fortune rice, ginger chicken and chowmein are must tries.

Not: Please don't expect authentic Chinese food here. It's more of an Indo-Chinese place.

Burnt chilly chicken !!!

Went there last saturday, this place has a warm and inviting ambiance, the waiters are very polite and prompt. we ordered chicken burnt garlic rice & burnt chilly chicken.

In 15 mins food reaches our table, the aroma of burnt chilly chicken (which got all ma attention) was mouth watering. It didnt end there first bite and my tastebudds surrender themselves to the delicious pieces of chicken the rice was a bit dry unlike the typical indo chinese restaurants around city. But the chilly chicken did make it better.

Overall a brilliant place to try which wll certainly turn into the final destination for "chinese cravings". Total VFM, can deliver awsm chinese widout burning a hole in your pocket.

Will be visiting soon to try their chicken spring roll n mix mefoon noodles :P

We keep inventing dishes!

We frequent here over thrice a week, this place being so close to work. There are some dishes that are not on the menu but they will dish it out for you. Have their Red chicken noodle soup which is spicy, watery and just YUM! For main course, have their Chilly and Garlic Fried rice with Chicken in Bean Sprouts gravy. If not that, get their Chicken triple in Black Pepper sauce. You will not regret these dishes

While this is a small neighborhood joint, it's well staffed, had a decent selection to choose from and consistently good food.

I would highly recommend the lemon coriander soup and the chilly paneer. Both great dishes but should be eaten pipping hot. Wouldn't recommend take away... Just head to the place and try it out!

damn good place! happy to have stumbled upon it!

We were scouting the streets of Matunga prior to our movie at Movietime Star City and stumbled upon this place.. i must say we were pleasantly surprised! its a tiny hole in the wall kinda place with lovely ambiance and a rotating shiny disco ball!! The place is very clean and as we walked in we were hit with the aromas of what turned out to be very delicious food!!

We started with the chicken talumein soup... thick and delicious, just the right amount of spice for my taste buds! we followed that up with the crispy chicken, which was sweeter than spicy but a lil schezwan sauce fixed it up perfectly! Followed that up with red thai curry and steamed rice. yummy in our tummy!

Would definitely head back to this place if i was in Matunga again!

Oh and the service was very good! prompt and a very helpful head waiter. he helped us order each course to suit our taste buds perfectly!

I'm giving it four stars outta five coz we didn't try the momos... will be back next time for it!

Awesome food, light on the stomach and the wallet

This is our almost-daily place for lunch. Bang opposite the workplace and a friendly staff, the food completes the entire experience.

Ambiance:
Smallish restaurant with about 8 tables to seat about 40 people is just about enough. They usually end up playing the (supposedly only) MLTR (Michael Learns To Rock) music CD they have.

Service:
Prompt and well staffed. You will wait no more than 15 minutes for the food you ordered.

Food:
Start with their Chicken Manchow soup which gets delivered within 5 minutes of you ordering it. Their Lemon Coriander soup is pretty good too. Starters, I'd recommend the Chicken Crispy or the Hakka Paneer for the vegetarians. Paneer Chilli is just average. For main course, I would highly recommend their 'Chicken Triple in Black Pepper sauce', which is not in their menu. It is brilliant and is enough for 2 extremely hungry people. Also, try their Chicken Burnt Garlic rice with Burnt Chicken Chilly gravy and it is Y-U-M!. Vegetarians, do not sweat. Just have their Veg Chowmein and you will not be disappointed. Crispy noodles at the bottom with veggies and gravy and noodles is quite a stomach-full. All items here are good for atleast 2 hungry people.

Damages:
You can expect to pay no more than 200 bucks a head and the average meal for 2 is about 400-450 bucks, owing to the large quantities and the quick service.

Quit faffing about no good cheap Chinese restaurants in Mumbai and just go here. Call for what I recommended above and you will walk out a happy man/woman.

Arrogant and a very local "gadiwala" chef

I got stale food from this place for take away and when I sent it back the chef started arguing and yelling on the phone to prove his point. I had to actually but unwilling get to his level and tell him to keep the money I spent as a tip and not give me any new food. I am surprised that if for a regular customer like me he was sooooo arrogant and abusive what he would do to the new customers. Please avoid this place seriously.
And guys don't misunderstand my "Review Title", I think the gadiwala chefs have better manners than this one. And my start rating of "one star" is only because I can't give a "zero or minus" star since burrp does not have that capability.

Good Food but Bad Service

Very less Quantity Ok quality. Bad service except the Chinese Guy out there ..
His Starters , soups are bad Highly not recommended.
There are many chances that the dish u get is not good (smells or tastes sour) this is mainly because he almost uses same sauce in most of his dishes and all these sauces are PREPARED 4 DAYS IN ADVANCE. Yes sir!! And if u go to tell him that your dish is stinking or bad he raps back at you saying its fine and even CHARGE you for the same WITHOUT ACCEPTING THEIR MISTAKE. and this is not some boy out there I am talking about the OWNER (not the pretty gal in the corner)
Its just a roadside joint redecorated to appear all glossy and stylish
I would recommend the joint which is in the adjoining lane. its called Little China(not so sure) ..but his fried rice Chicken out ranks lucky dragon's both in quantity and quality.. place is mostly a take away but u can dine there too.
If you dont mind take aways try Paul Chinese at end of the road that is FAR better. their Soups Rice etc are really good.
These ppl should learn a thing or two from MainLand China when it comes to customer service.. But you cant expect that from Lucky Dragon. Cause its only Luck that they expect to run on.

My 2nd kitchen.

I cannot express my happiness in words when Lucky Dragon started their services..right next to my building!! I can SEE their kitchen every single day and the noise of the wok calls you inside the place! Space-wise small but the food and ambiance is KILLER! Cute little oriental lanterns inside make the place a perfect Chinese restaurant. Stuff you MUST try - thread chicken, manchurian gravy, tripple schezuan. I dont really like their black bean sauce. They use the same sauce in Chicken Korean rice. Else, a damn good place for family and friends. :)

Poor Customer Interaction!

We ordered Chicken Lemon Corainder Soup for home delivery today for dinner alongwith some other dishes. The Chicken Coriander Lemon Soup contained plenty of vegetables and Babycorn. As I am allergic to Corn, I phoned them and asked why so many vegetables alongwith Corn is added in a Chicken Coriander Lemon Soup. The owner blamed me for not informing him that I am allergic to corn. Point is whether standard Chicken Lemon Coriander Soup recipes contain Babycorn!!!!! I then requested him to send one Soup without corn. He sent one more Soup. I returned the first Soup with Corn and PAID his Delivery Boy FOR THE SECOND SOUP TOO. So much for Customer Service!!!! Wonder whether the persons running the place know what Customer Service is all about.

'Decent' Chinese food at 'Great' price.

As this place is near my office, I end up going there quite often (i.e. once a week). Though I have been to a lot better Chinese restaurants, I don't mind the place/complain because of the price.

It is a very small place (a seating of not more than 15 people at a time) and does not have a great ambiance, but I guess they give 'decent' Chinese food at a 'great' price. You can try the Lemon Corriander Soup along with the chili prawns. Garlic chicken is also good. But I would definitely recommend their Ice-cream noodles as a desert. Nice and different.

So if you are within the Matunga area and looking for a quick, decent Chinese food at a great price please head straight to Lucky Dragon.

The best Chinese this side of town!

This is a small, quaint little place in the back lanes of Matunga - not a great location for a mainstream cuisine restaurant such as this - but like they say, good things come in small packages. And this is the best!

The rates are really low and the quality of the food is as good as some of the premium places in Bandra. The ambience is great too - the lighting is perfect, the place is always kept clean and the clientele is also generally respectable.

Having said that, here are a couple of things I think Lucky Dragon can improve upon:

1) Credit cards must be accepted. Currently, they only take cash.
2) They need better music. Why would you play James Blunt in a Chinese restaurant!

These are the only two things I can think of. However, neither of these comes in the way of a great Chinese dining experience.

If you're in the neighborhood or just passing by, get lucky...

Can't expect anything better...

Lucky Dragon seems to be the only decent Chinese place in the vicinity and so I don't expect it to be over the top. It's just a decent place to fulfill your craving for Chinese. The crispy chicken here is fantastic although they could work on the quantity. For a good 150 bucks, the quantity is hardly enough for two people. Service and ambience is average as well.. If lucky dragon tries to improve, they could get luckier ;)

This place might not have the best of interiors and all that but their food certainly hits the mark! I love going there for a quick grab with my colleagues and I always return with a satiated tummy. I love their Crispy Chicken and their momos too are quite tasty! I like the food here, it rocks! :) The Tom Yum soup is really nice too. Enter the dragon!

Went to the place with colleagues for lunch, only because we didnt have a choice. Never in my life would i go to a "Lucky Dragon"! On getting there, my first impression was oh my gawd! It was very tacky and we were scared to taste the food. We obviously didnt expect authentic chinese - all we cud ask for was decent indo-chinese. The food surprised. It was pretty good- paneer chilli sizzler, schezwan noodles, manchurian balls, prawn rice. The starters were excellent to say the least - thread paneer, crispy potato, chilli chicken. Only, they didnt hav fresh lime soda. and diet coke. and sprite.

The service is super quick. So if ur in the mood for oily chatpata faux-chinese, enter the dragon...
