With the number of 'desi' diners in Mumbai, modeled on the lines of 'asli' diners from the US of A, how does one break through the clutter and emerge with the perfect recipe for success?

My memories of Jiggs Kalra date back to the time when he was a food columnist and had not ventured in the restaurant business with Punjab Grill. The highlight of most of his columns used to be the unique and discerning way in which he explained the flavor of every dish in his usual trademark style. To try and do justice to some of the food created by a great food connoisseur like Jiggs is truly a challenging and daunting experience, which one must embark upon with some bit of trepidation.
Without exaggeration, it had been 3 weeks of waiting for a table on the weekend at the spanking... read more
Appreciating good food is an art which has its side effects. The more you experience ambience, style and cuisine with substance, the more you raise the bar in terms of your expectations. Soon, you become so cynical that even decent places which serve good food fail to impress you.
Must say, Grillopolis broke this trend for me. Right from the classy interiors to the great food and attentive service, everything was perfect and unparalleled.

Thank you very much for the wonderful review. I am sharing your comments with the team and am sure it will encourage them to be consistent with delivery and raise the bar higher. We are often accused of serving too many dishes but the idea is to allow our guests to indulge in the dishes they most enjoy. Let me again thank you for your kind words and hope that Grillopolis will continue to receive your custom and patronage.

Although I could not lay my hands on beef chilly fry which I had been craving for since ages (they only served beef fry not chilly fry), the other items - surmai fry, chicken fry, surprisigly excellent rasam, prawn curry in a tangy gravy with pieces of raw mango (mmmm.....mouthwatering!)... were way above expectations..
The appams - prepared frsshly in front of us -were better than the parotha's.
One does step into Melting Pot with a little nervousness as restaurants which serve all kinds of food usually do not specialize in anything...
Therefore while going through 3 extensive menus (of all the 3 restaurants on different fooors)- we were first a little apprehensive as to what do we order and what would be the speciality...
Thankfully we were helped by the every polite and eager to serve staff who tried to understand the food we liked and recommended accordingly...
We loved the seafood - specially the prawns, rawas in spicy think gravy, steamed pomfret in... read more
