Good

Beware of the quantity..yeh to too much ho gaya!!!

2 of my good friends and i decided to check this place out after one of them had been here some time back and had been singing laurels about the restaurant whenever we spoke of punjabi food.So it was 2nd October-The smoking ban had been enforced plus it was a dry day so no booze. So we make an entry into the place at 9.30-10pm.We enter the restaurant and i was amazed to see such a big place in terms of space.Seems like the owner had purchased/leased the entire floor of the building and so it was divided into 3 sections. We sat in the middle section.Since we were in no mood to have too many starters, My friend ordered a veg starter as he was observing navratri(So no Non Veg for him).It was called Tandoori Mushroom and we ordered Chicken Chettinad and a Mix Veg subzi cause we wanted to try how punjabi restaurants serve south indian subjiz plus the navratri season. Also we ordered garlic naan, onion kulcha and normal kulcha. So they got the starters first which was the best veg starter i had ever had and mind you that was when the service was quick cause you have like one waiter aligned to 1 or 2 tables which was good and plus no need to call them eveytime you need something.Coming back to the food, the mushrooms were well tandoored with capsicum, onion which added more flavour.

The main course took atleast 15-20 minutes which was irritating but we were okay with that cause we had masala papad for company. Finally the food arrives and i am in for a shocker. They had got the subzis in vessels which were bigger in size than what other restaurants serve in.We were 3 people and the food that came looked like it was meant for 4-5 people. But i must compliment them for the excellent quality and quantity. The chettinad was medium spicy and was good.I cant rate it much as i had tried it for the first time. The veg subzi was also good, though i dont prefer veg dishes in places where they serve non veg.The naan and the kulcha was nicely prepared(Very Soft and not too crispy) and so tasted even better with the subzis. However in the end it was too much for 3 of us.Dint order any desserts as we were full.

The bill came to about 650 bucks+taxes. My friend surprises us saying that he is paying the bill as its a surprise birthday treat.Actually his birthday was in september and he wasnt in mumbai to celebrate it.So it was like a double surprise

Overall a good place.Next time i am definitely trying some punjabi dishes for the main course.Cause its like "Punjab mein aake koi South Indian Khata hai kya??".Highly recommended for punjabi food lovers.

Good

Great place for a Saturday night!

Had been to red box a couple of weeks back and it is a great place to be.Mind it, it was a saturday night so you are bound to expect some waiting period before you get your table. But once your in then itz a different experience cause the ambience and the interiors are amazing!!The starters rock!!...Especially the fish fingers.Booze is not too expensive.150 bucks for a small peg of vodka and 150 for a large beer which is not bad!!...Dont order too many starters like how we did cause then there is no room for the main course.Though we ordered some main course which was again good but the starters stole the show.Service was excellent. You dont have to call for the waiters to fill your glass and they dont ignore you when you call for them.Music is mostly bollywood and punjabi numbers. Can be a mix of english n hindi numbers cause not everyone is into bollywood music. The table can cause a little inconvinience as it is actually meant for 2 but they accomodate 3 people especially when you've ordered too many starters plus your booze glass plus ur plate.I think they can accomodate 3 people on a table for 4 rather than a table for 2.

Total came upto 1600 bucks(Food+booze)....Not bad!!

PS-Waiting period can be long...cause itz a saturday night....Be patient cause what's outside can be frustrating(that's the waiting)...but what's inside is mindblowing!!!

Good

Food is amazing but service can be much better!!

Had been through the reviews on NH1 on burrp and thought why not explore this place myself and then review it cause it had been long since i had punjabi(Dhaba) food.So i called up their number to know where they were located cause the place is not too far from my house but i didnt know the exact location. So this guy with a typical southie accent answers the phone and gives me the direction.when asked if i could reserve a table, he replies saying the place is full but he can take my name down.I reach NH1 half n hour later to realise they dont have my name penned down in their register.Had to literally argue with them before they said they would accomodate us.We waited for almost 30 minutes which was expected on a saturday night. Finally got a table.

The place has been given a typical dhaba look with a bamboo roof, lanterns on top of every table(Reminds me of Urban Tadka). Also they have a menu card which is in the shape of a registeration number plate.Booze is available which is not so very expensive. The service initially was quick. We ordered Chicken Tandoori(90 bucks) and Chicken Makhmali Kebab(110 bucks). The Tandoori was kinda ok with a little portion that i was served was burnt(which happens cause itz tandoori...but then they could have been careful). The Makhmali Kebabs were amazing. They were soft and tender adding to a foodie's delight.we then order this dish called Lazeez Chicken Tikka Masala. The food took some time before it arrive. The gravy and the chicken boneless pieces were complimenting punjabi food.It was a tomato based gravy and was so good that i must admit that i have licked my fingers. But the pissing off part was when they got the naan i had ordered. The naan had just 1 piece of naan and the other piece was a roti.I call the waiter to tell him their folly, but the waiter literally asked me to join the 2 pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle to prove it was a naan, but unfortunately it wasnt. So i gave up.I order a second round of naan and it takes them 10 minutes to get it and here i am with my fingers goin dry and my plate too!!.Finally they get the naan and luckily it was nice and hot.So at the end of it all i loved the food but the service wasnt complimenting it.

The bill come up to 520 bucks between the 3 of us.Though we dint booze and eat much. Also the place is a little on the noiser side as its a small restaurant with a lot of people.I would recommend this place for punjabi food lovers. The place is pretty reasonable and i would wanna go a second time. However this time not on saturday night..!!
