Penne Pyaaz Arrabiata

We went here to grab a quick lunch today. I had the Penne Arabiatta pasta. Although the pasta sauce was full of onions, the pasta didn't taste too bad. I've had better pasta elsewhere. My colleague suggested that next time we try Spaghetti Kitchen for Italian food.

The ambiance was a bit too loud for my liking. The service was very efficient.

Love the kulfi

No trip to the Manekchowk late night food court is complete without having a scoop of the famous Asharfi Kulfi. Although there are other Kulfi guys in the vicinity, nothing beats the taste and flavour of Asharfi.

I am sure they have more than the Baskin Robbins 31 flavours, but my personal favourite has always been the Roasted Almond Kulfi. Besides kulfi, they also have the Sancha ice-cream, which is hand-prepared using the old style of making ice-creams.

These days they even have a sugar-free version of the kulfi.

Delicious gujju pizza

I finally got the chance to try out the famed Jasuben's Pizza. So this just some roadside stall with a couple of guys at the counter serving up delicious pizzas. Jasuben, was nowhere in sight. I didn't expect to see her there anyways.

So I tried their Italian Pizza. It was the farthest thing that I've ever had from Italian food. Even the cheese was the Amul variety. But it was truly finger licking delicious. There was some ketchupy paste on a bakhri sized "thin crust" base with plenty of cheese, onions and tomato.

The stuff was just too good. Really, you got to taste it to believe me. Just don't go expecting a real pizza or anything even remotely Italian.

Soda has no fizz

We went there with high expectations, but what a disappointment it turned out to be.

Although the place is quite cramped (I think they have about 8 tables on both the floors combined), but the menu was as thick as the bible. They claim to have several cuisines - Thai, Malay, American, Indian, Chinese, Mediterranean, Sizzlers etc. The lighting on the top floor was too dim, we had to strain our eyes to read the menu.

My broccoli pasta salad tasted stale. The food serving was not coordinated at all. They served one guy on our table but didn't bring out everyone else's even after 35 mins.

I am not going there again, nor would advise you to go.

Sad Falafel

Was craving for Mediterranean food since quite some days. A couple of days ago, in a fit of desperation I ordered the Veg Falafel from Maroush. Now, it's been a while since I ate good Mediterranean food in India. The last time it tasted good was in Ahmedabad at a place called Dhuan.

The Falafel that I got from Maroush was soggy and the "pakodas" in it were also a bit unauthentic. I am not even sure whether they put in any Tahini sauce in there. At best it was "kaam chalau".

I won't order from there again. I am always on the lookout for good Mediterranean food. You guys know of any places?
