Like somebody here has said, it’s a place to hangout. The ambiance is good, the music is good, the selection of drinks is good, the food is decent, the prices are reasonable, the place is quiet noisy and conversation is loud.
Although the menu is not extensive does offer a variety. The food is quite nice, but I think for a Western Menu the portions are small. E.g. if you are a good eater a single plate of pasta will not suffice and you may still want something more after the sizzler. Here I must warn you to stay far, far away from their risotto, unless all you want is lumpy mixed rice. There is no creaminess in it at all. Most of their omelettes and sizzlers are good.
Service is by no standards fast or efficient. I’ve been here a number of times, on weekdays as well as weekends, and have found that the staff is not attentive. You have to really get the waiters attention by waiving repeatedly and frantically. But then it’s a “hangout” place and so the service can be overlooked. But what you cannot overlook is if they get your order wrong. This inevitably happens if you deviate even a bit from the standard order, even something as basic as no fries with sizzlers. So go with the standard menu. I’ve also found that if it’s a group of 5 or more ordering a mix of cuisines, some food arrives lukewarm.
On weekends, it’s impossible to get a table without a 30-45 minute wait. So don’t head out exactly at dinnertime, but it’s in a mall, so there are things to do while you wait.

Excellent
As is the case with a lot of us, when we go out for Indian food we usually end up eating North Indian. I was fed up of the usual fare and wanted some Indian food other than North Indian. That’s how I found Dakshin.
Here you have a choice, somewhat limited though, of cuisines from all of South India – AP, TN, Kerala, Karnataka. I would suggest that you take your time and look through the menu and this may take some time, as you have to read the descriptions. The waiters are very helpful and know what’s on the menu, so that’s a big plus.
The food does take time to arrive, but when it does, it’s worth the wait. The food is simply delicious. We were a big group and so managed to order vegetarian, chicken, lamb and seafood from different types of cuisines and all of it was excellent.
The ambiance is nice and the service too is very good and efficient.
So definitely head here if you are in mood for some delectable South Indian food!
Happy Eating!

They have three levels plus a pub called Xanadu, so you may want to take a look before you decide on the sitting. I’m not reviewing Xanadu here. All levels are quite comfortable. The lower ground level has live gazals which are quiet good, but also quiet loud and hence not conducive for carrying on a conversation.
The menu is normal variety of North Indian and Chinese, no real novelty here. The food though on the whole is good. The veggies and chicken is especially good; the mutton is ok, while the seafood is completely avoidable.
The service is good and you’ll normally find someone to attend to you when required. The ambiance decent enough but it tends to get a little noisy. They have quiet a large entrance with an aquarium which a good place for kids to play around once they finish their meal! However they do not provide kiddie chairs. The pricing is moderately expensive. Valet parking is available.
Overall it’s a good place to have a meal with your family and friends.

Good
My brother raved about this place, so obliviously I was sceptical ;-) Anyways I tried it and was not disappointed.
First of all there is a restaurant on the lower lever and a pub/bar on the first level. I am reviewing the pub/bar and not the restaurant.
The place is a little small and almost always packed on weekends. However the crowd does move and if you are willing to wait at the bar for your first round, you will find a seating soon.
The ambiance is nothing to shout about. The place being small the tables are small too. But that’s keeping in line with any bar in Bombay. However it is appropriately lit; not too bright to kill the mood nor too dark to make it seem shady or dingy.
The service is quiet good as can be expected at a bar. You won’t have someone waiting on you, but once you order your drinks they are on the table soon. The bites however do take quiet some time to arrive.
The bar is quiet well stocked and unless you are planning to order something exotic, you’ll get your favourite blend. I am however not a cocktail person at such places and have never even glanced at what they have to offer on the cocktails front.
The region where this place scores heavily is the music. The music is excellent, especially on Friday nights. It is loud, as should be expected, so conversation although not impossible does take effort. If you like retro music this place is a must visit. The DJ does entertain requests and does have quiet a wide range. Having said that the place offers retro music, well it’s obvious that the place is not full of teens.
Lastly all although they do provide Valet services, parking is not hard to find on the road even on weekends.
Over all it’s a great place to hang out if you want to enjoy your drink with some great music.
Cheers!
