Good

chak de fatte!

For those looking for authentic Punjabi food, I can’t think of any other place as a complete package than this. I’ve been to their 4 bunglow as well as the mulund branch and found the food and service alike. There’s another restaurant with the same name in kandiwali (which is supposed to be owned by a separated brother, which is pathetic – in service as well as the taste, please don’t go to that branch unless you’re in some real crises for food)
Coming back to the ‘original’ UT, I feel the first place which strikes you is the ‘relaxed’ ambiance, even though this rural theme has been done to death by other hotels, this one retains its genuine flavor by miles. If you’re looking for some snob factor to show off the etiquettes of the western world you’ll be disappointed but if you’ve been to Punjab long back, and would like to get some tit bits of your memories with some pleasing ambiance, you should like this place in all probabilities.
Its hugely popular, resulting in great rush on special days rather nights, and hence you’ll be disappointed again for the chaos or the wait…but then a lot of my frens share this feel that they don’t mind that for the experience and the bargain that the get in return!
Experience – its got the basics of a decent restaurant the first being FOOD! Typical Punjabi food, with a nice twist here and there…be it preparations or even the branding of the dishes! The Quantity is amazing…it was more than your heart can take, and my stomach made some space somehow as I’d hate to waste that food!
The ambiance has got good conversation starter kind of tricks done with accessories…be it the lamp made out of dhol, the lamp again made by ‘bangles’, the photographs of rural Punjab with amazing simplicity but great impact, the bicycle in the aisle, the kites and toys here and there, the colors, which are bright but inviting!
The staff is also very nice and cooperative; we got the preparation of the dish ‘veg keema kabab sabzi’ written by the waiter on our request (I don’t remember if that’s the real name of the dish there)
The staff is warm and very well trained…they make sure to get the real feedback of the food from the customers, and even then if you’re not happy, you can call the owner directly on his cell mentioned on the standy at the desk!
The best price is its moderately priced at that kind of food and service. The average price would be rs.130-150/- for a dish, drinks with interesting Indian twist might sound lil costlier, but the fun which comes along with the presentation style justifies that amount.

I might be sounding as if I’m being hired by the hotel, but trust me I’m not, I guess this place have made a place in my heart definitely through my stomach.

I’d recommend this place to anyone and everyone…!

Poor

a real FAKE!

This could have easily be a very happening place had the staff and the management cared about putting a 'real' feel to it...
when I say real feel I mean being in the hospitality business, if you're not sure & confidant of your offerings,...you're making a mockery of yourself in that space...
the girls welcome you warmly with smile...however you'll have to repeat everything at least twice to make them understand your query even if you're just asking for the preparation of the cuisine... in fact, in my case when I asked twice, she just left blank faced for me to call up someone else to get my answer...

This place is been divided into two main areas…one is the gaming area which houses the Console Games in the centre with nice comfortable seats around 2 LCD Screens… This is more or less the heart of the ‘game’ part of this place, since the rest of the gimmicks hardly even caught anybodies attention…
The other area is a more relaxed area for serious lounge feel to it, also having an upper deck area with stairs for those who like to go even more privy!

I decided to checkout a few games over some beer, and so I decided to grab the 2nd LCD screen which was free at that time…Wasn’t; working! Fair enough…the gadget can breakdown anytime these days…so I waited for a while for the other one to get free…
When it eventually did, I tried to figure out all the games that are available to play…when I called the ‘smiling dolls’ to enquire about the same… she repeated the same jig of leaving the place for some other guy to come in and listen to my query…
And so I got to know that even this machine has just got one game loaded in it, since the other DVDs aren’t working!!!

Well…that was enough for me to have any expectations for even checking out other stuff for some ‘entertainment’!

what’s more disappointing is the inability of the crew at the lounge to feel at home themselves.... none of the girls or guys attending to the guest seem to be comfortable with themselves, forget about operating/ fixing a non working gadget...!!!

I feel what this place really requires is some serious staff training and etiquette guidance… that can help make this place a more genuine relaxing place rather than a done-up fake wannabe that it comes across as right now…

After this gaming adventure. I thought lets move in to checkout the lounge area…it was nice spacious but averagely done-up place. Nothing very soothing about it if you really have very high expectations after hearing that it’s supposed to be a lounge area!

None the less, I ordered for another beer, and a starters (chicken tikka with corn and mint). As I was waiting for the food and other junta to arrive ( I was the only one in that area at that time), I happen to do some chit-chat with ‘Mr, DJ’…who was playing Vengaboys…
I asked if hez got Pink Floyd with him…and he gave me a flat face flatter than the girls standing in the gaming zone…
I asked “do you have pink Floyd?’ he said “Pink what? …I have Red rose”…that was enough for me to go back to my seat…with his CD wallet…I pulled out a cd having a collection of flloyd to give it to him, and then asking him to FO”

The food came…fortunately that tasted GOOD, otherwise I would have seriously thought of creating some scene over there against these guys for robbing innocent people against a 3rd class bunch of service offerings… The quantity was good. I wouldn’t have mind paying 200 bucks for that had the overall experience was nice enough.

To sum it up, if you’re expecting this place as a fun filled and buzzing zone with lots of gaming and activities…forget about it! But if you’re in a group big enough to occupy the major chunk of space there (15-20 minimum), go for it, however, I still feel with that kind of overall ticket size of 20, you’ll be able to find out other ‘real’ places to chill out.
Food is nice, and so is the depth in the menu. So if you’re a food freak on the prowl, you won’t come disappointed as much as the game freaks!
