Good
i didnt dine at Serengetti but at one of the other places in the Ohris restaurant building.
the place was ok, the ambiance was good, they made some serious effort in getting some unique table and silverware designs etc.
the food however was fairly average, the service was good.

The Waterfront is exactly what the name leads you to believe. Its a lounge/bar/restaurant with an al fresco option by the lake. Avoid sitting outside as they have mosquitoes.
The interior is very upmarket, loungish, international. The service is friendly and fairly quick. While the menu covers Indian, Chinese & Thai, we dined on Chinese both times we were there.
Honey chilli potatoes, pan fried noodles were fantastic. I tried the Indian appetizer platter which was crap.
The place is not very expensive, the entrees priced at 175-250 and a vodka tonic for 200.
worth a go.

The race course is going to become quite a hangout towards the end of the year. Olive has opened their branch and the word is out that Indigo might be coming too. Good for us south bombay folk i say.
Anyway, for those who have been to olive in Bandra this one is similar yet different. it has the same motif the Sicilian walls, the chairs, you get the drift.
what they also have is the slightly aloof service which travels in from Bandra. The crowds were good, pretty people, thank god there weren't that many film folk around. they can stick to bandra as far as i am concerned.
Olive for me has never been the gourmet experience a la Indigo but more a place to see and be seen if that is your thing.
i liked the table bread, the soup was ok, the salad was bland but the pizza was pretty good. i didnt have any of the pasta that was ordered so i cannot comment.
overall, i dont think they have paid as much attention to the food as they have to the ambiance. the service is fairly lame but its a lovely place to have a glass of wine.
damage : severe i think the prices have risen too. 4400+ for 3 with 2 glasses of wine. i remember it being cheaper than this..
PS. Didn't see any kids their either.
PPS. Since the place is hot right now, make sure you get a table in advance. chances of a walk in are slightly on the slim side.

Ended up at Shiro as the wait at Hard Rock was over an hour. So we ended up using Shiro as our waiting room. As much as i like the whole Zen/Japanese/Thai thing the space could have been way better designed.
The people were mostly over 40, garishly dressed and balding (not that there is anything wrong with it) we ended up spending an hour and then moved on.
The service was quick, the space interesting but the crowd and music was fairly lame.
Damage for 8 drinks and 2 starters was 4000

Finally got to DG last night after canceling thrice. The place is fairly small and they have rules (good thing) regarding clothing, kids and reservations all of which sounds great but seems weird considering they are based out of a mall.
Anyway, the decor is typical dim lighting, minimum spacing and there is no real bar. The menu is fairly expansive so there is plenty to try for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I would recommend getting a proper menu made rather than printouts which seems cheap.
The chef is of course Italian which is very evident in the first page itself where he reminds you that the first basket of bread is free but then on its 50 bucks for bread and 50 bucks for Olive oil. Last time i checked we didnt levy bread charges. whats next ? cover charges for restaurants. This isn't Venice. Also the bread isnt worth 50 bucks. sorry!
We started of with the Pasta Fagioli which is pasta and beans. This was an average soup, nothing great, they didnt offer a Minestrone on the menu either.
The Bruschetta was tomato and olive oil, slightly on the saltier side but not bad. Although no one at the table was impressed with it. I have had some tremendous Bruschetta across the street at the Ivy.
The main course was Lasagna which was excellent, just the right bake and sauce. Worked well. The Risotto and this is what i reckon we should judge restaurants by was bloody weak.
There are tremendous risottos available in this city (Basilico, Moshe, Celini) What i got tasted a lot like a Khichadi and even looked like one, if they didnt have mushrooms i would have had to ask for some yogurt and papad.
The tiramisu was too creamy but had plenty of liqueur.
The place is dull and constricted, the food is unimaginative and joyless.
There is plenty to try so maybe another visit before i really make up my mind.
The service was fairly slow too, good thing i asked them for the entrees before the appetizers came in.
The pricing for 3 without drinks was 1900. I could drop maybe another 600 bucks and have a great Italian meal at Celini)
