Cringing, craving, bingeing, braving... you always have an opinion on what's hot and what's not in your city and we just love to hear it. Besides, there's no better place to satiate that itch to bitch!
I love Parsi food, as a result was looking forward to visit the newly opened Parsi restaurant in town – ‘Jumjoji’ at Bandra. I dialed their number from my mobile phone, was promptly told by the restaurant that reservations are not accepted. To avoid waiting for a table, I landed an hour earlier than my regular dinner time at the restaurant. A large brown door with a chrome handle was the first thing I noticed; the door keeper was present to open the door for us. An orange board on the right hand side next to the door had some interesting remarks on Parsis, an entertaining read for sure. As I entere... read more
Since Café Zoe, opened in Mumbai, I always had a desire to visit it. I finally picked up my phone and reserved a table for 8pm. I had a hard time locating the restaurant, so I called up the restaurant for directions, was told go to Blue Frog and they will tell you where it is. I wasn’t impressed, I was close to walking out on Café Zoe, but luckily I managed to locate the restaurant with a little effort.
As I walked to the restaurant a large grey door welcomed me to the restaurant, I was quite surprised with what I saw a few minutes after I stepped in, Café Zoe is basically a shed converte... read more
Decided to head to the Cafe at the NCPA for a late evening bite. Handed over my car keys to the valet and headed straight for Amadeus. I was guided to the outdoor area which happens to be Cafe at the NCPA. Had to wait for about 20 minutes to be allotted a table. Once seated I was swiftly given the menus by our waiter.
Wanted to have my customary Icea Tea, but chose to stick to plain water for this time. Called for a sandwich and burger. The sandwich, 'Open Roast Beef With Straw Potatoes, Caramelised Onions and Blue Cheese', was served two slices of bread, only one slice had meat on it,... read more
On one evening, I happened to be in the Fort area. Felt the need for some coffee and light snacks. Thought over a little and decided to head to ‘The Banyan Tree’. I had to search for about 10 minutes till I found the cafe right opposite a wonderful brownie outlet, Sleight of Hand. At first glance, I felt the café is closed for business, as I saw a few empty tables devoid of any illumination. After I opened the glass door and walked in, my eyes fell upon a few occupied tables. This café is rather quaint, with customers who observed a pin drop silence and those who spoke did so only in hushed tones;... read more
Wanted to have pizza one evening and zeroed in on California Pizza Kitchen, Lower Parel for fulfilling my pizza craving. Called up the restaurant for a reservation, was promptly told on the phone that they accommodate people on a first come first serve basis and I would easily get a table. Since I rarely visit Phoenix Mills, Lower Parel; I literally had to be escorted till the restaurant. At the door I was told by a restaurant employee that there is a 10 minute waiting. I was lucky that night, was given a table inside 2 minutes.
Seated at a table towards the left hand side of the restaura... read more
