Lamba is that little hole in the wall which will never make it to the reviews of magazines or be part of any tourist map..however this is the proverbial Daimond in a coal mine (apart from being next to daimond garden)
Lamba was started by Mr Lamba some 20+ years agao Mr Lamba (whom i remotely know) is over 70 years old today and still himself selects the fish and prawns and makes the Masala and marinate used in the hotel.
now for the must haves
1. Prawn Birwani ---its so good that I make it a point to order it for each of my international partner who joins me for lunch....
2. Fried Rawas...its tender and hevenly
dont forget to ask for some extra green chatni its great too
3. Fried Prawns (amritsar style)
u will love that...watchout for the calories
4. Kababs & meats
all kinds are kababs are great as they are made in charcoal grill and marinated with mr lambas secret sauce..
all the items are very moderately priced
it is more a take away than a dine-in (originally designed for the truckers who are going out of mumbai) so go for it ....enjoy

H2O Water Complex, Next to Mafatlal Swimming Pool, Girgaum, Chowpatty, Mumbai
Rated: Good
great location
amazing food
super service
value for money
this is how i would describe Salt Water Grill
The stakes are good, the starters are interesting and they have a good variety of drinks.. i like an interesting mint flavored coconut water..try it
this is one place u can safely take your girlfriend, wife, business guests , international visitors and anyonme u wanna impress and it will work 100%
always make reservations in advance.....and one think which i was a disappointed with is that they dont give u sea facing tables if u are with kids...
the items on the menu are expensiveeeeeee......however the location, the food and the complete package makes its Value for Money....

i have been there a couple of times, they have an interestine menu with many american dishes which u would normally not find in menus.
i liked the spicy wings and steamed wantons...
however they are simply over prized....
looks like they have simply taken their american menu and converted everything from $ to Rs....
i think the food would have taskted a lot better if the pricing was right....u simply dont get the feeling of Value for Money "paisa vasool
it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.

Very rarely do u find someone able to replicate quality and fine dining across a chain of restaurants. You would normally see it with Pizza, McDonands or other western joints.
I was vey impressed seeing and tasting what Mahesh lunch home has done..their food quality across all their various centers is more or less the same infact in some cases better than the original.
I stick to my Prawns, Appam, Fish Curry and Rice and sometimes order the Famous Crab dishes...another think i like there is the Kokam Drink they serve.
The Thane Mahesh is vey very big and spacious with Ample parking. All the qualities you would miss in the original one in Fort. The service is great, the staff is friendly.
I think Mahesh really has a shot of bexomming the Joe,s crab shack http://www.joescrabshack.com/ of India. For people who dont know Joe's Crab Shack is one of the largest chain of sea food restaurants in US
Good going Mahesh!
