Average south indian food

This is one of the run of the mills restaurants which will never turn into a superstar but which will continue to churn out food of the same average quality. You know, the kinds that exist around any nook and corner, which you will never really crave for going to, but will nevertheless go to when you want a quick, edible meal.
The things that works for this joint is its location ( Madhapur - home to tons of office goers), its service( quick, efficient and unobtrusive) and its spread( dosas, tiffin items and meals with some north indian food thrown in the menu absent mindedly). Go there if you miss the other decent joints in Madhapur.

New superstar on the Horizon!!

Yup, just from the title you can figure that i loved the place. Excellent ambience, efficient service and great food made for a great combination.
The buffet starts off with a great combination of veg and non-veg starters that are grilled right at your table. The waiters ensure that you dont have to wait for even a second between your helpings. The main course is satisfying without being overbearing and the desserts round off a delectable buffet. They have a reasonable bar menu and the Long Island Iced Tea did have its fair share of alcohol for once.
The only downside is the price which is on the higher side, but hey, good things in life dont come for free now do they!!

Decent Andhra food

Situated in the heart of Banjara Hills is Southern Spice a nice cosy Andhra joint which masquerades as one of those multicuisine thingies. Stick to the indian food if you value taste. While the biryanis are nothing to speak about, it is their thalis that they are known for. Try the andhra non veg dishes too, which though on the spicier side, are quite popular too. The ambience is quite homely and you can expect to see a lot of families at this joint out for a very traditional dinner.

Different fare but way too spicy..

Situated in a very quaint part of town, Rayalseema ruchulu, as the name suggests, attempts to help you sample the fare of rayalseema. While the menu does offer dishes that are not on offer in other Andhra joints, the preparation does leave a lot to be desired. The food that i tried out namely the andhra thali and the guttu vankaya was way too spicy, which was after special requests to keep the spice levels down. Same with the non-veg stuff too and that really killed the taste of the food in my opinion. Ohh and the less said about the service the better. Typically south indian restaurants have sort of an assembly line kind of function in place for Thalis. You enter the restaurant, you order, you get the food in about 5 mins, you eat, you pay up and you get out. But it seems that rayalseema ruchulu have not quite yet mastered the approach, as it took them approximately 30 mins to get our thalis on our tables. And boy, what really infuriated our group was the delay in refilling the curries and rice items. You really cant afford such lackadaisical attitude when you are in the south indian thali business. Try this place at your own risk!

If rolls are your fix...

and hygiene is not :) . Expect really tasty calcutta style rolls and mughlai paranthas made to suit most palates. The down side of being a small joint is that not everything is available all the time. Try the paneer tikka roll and chicken tikka roll and you will be hooked. Its easy on the pocket too which makes this place all the more appealing.
