Four Seasons Hotel, 114, E. Moses Road, Worli, Mumbai

Rated: Poor

Pretentious, snobby waiters

The Bare & Verandah is The Four Seasons uninspired lobby bar, literally connected to the same area where one would check in. As with any five star place, the prices are astronomical. Drinks are good, but not as stiff as one would like.

The waiters here think they're working for the Mandarin Orient in Hong Kong or something. While sipping our drinks after work, the waiter promptly brought out some warm breads to enjoy with our libations. Unfortunately, after a few minutes, he reappeared and took all of our silverware and plates away. When I told him that I didn't prefer eating like a caveman, he explained it was hotel policy to remove all utensils and serving plates from customers who had not ordered any food from the menu. WTF!? I gave him the look of death and he brought everything back, but what nerve! Not going back unless I'm dragged here with a larger group.

Great office lunch place

Since the job shifted to the Lower Parel area, it has been quite tough to find the right places to get a good, quick, healthy lunch. Enter Daily Quick Meals. This quaint, fancy canteen-styled restaurant offers some simple homestyle South Indian and North Indian comfort foods. My office crew and I tried a combination of appams, chicken chettinad and some sweet lime sodas. The food was fantastic, portions didn't make us fat, and we were served in no time! The best part? The bill actually made us wonder if we were still in Bombay...

This place definitely gets it right: extremely high quality food, health-conscious portions, low prices, focus on speed and service. End result? A very happy customer.

Espresso & Biscotti, anyone?

I discovered this place after visiting burrp since I live in the neighborhood. The pleasant discovery I made myself though was that this place, hands down, beats all the cafes in the area for an espresso (or other espresso drinks) along with some biscotti or other pastry. I actually heard the grinding the espresso beans and boy, did it show in the taste! Amazing espresso, amazing almond biscotti (homemade I'm sure), and great friendly service. I hope this place survives, given its cute, but slightly hidden location (it's near Poush, the famous Kashmiri place in this area).

I call upon all Lokhandwala-ites to patronize this business regularly. They deserve it! Follow me to freedom, people!!

Restaurant or Gas Chamber?

WTF!? This place was full of more smoke than a Chinese coal plant. What's the deal with everyone smoking inside a family-friendly restaurant? Yeah, second hand smoke is great for your little fat kids lungs. It's not enough that he looks like a bucket of lard at 4 years old; nah! Let's blow smoke in his face!

Happened here after our terrible experience at Myst (read my review) to continue our night of drinking. Upon learning that we were only in the restaurant to swig a few, the manager promptly starts to put the pressure on us by just standing at our table, waiting for us to order more drinks as we casually sip away. What a f*cking baboon. More so, he tells us at 12:30AM that it's "last call" at the bar. Are you kidding me? 25 minutes later, we see him serve beers to a table full of goras. I can stand some bad service here and there, but a gora-ass kissing manager is all it takes for me to walk right out, which is exactly what we did. I give them a few stars because the music of the place was decent, and the crowd looked fine (although their lungs probably look like shriveled up tree bark).

Not going back here either...my quest is still on for the perfect Lokhandwala/Oshirwara/Andheri (W) watering hole...follow me to freedom, people!

Can I give a 0?

Myst is what I thought to be a great watering hole for the suburbs. My thoughts after the latest experience have changed. I headed here with friends on a Friday night, looking for the usually dependable Myst experience - a nice place to chill outdoors, have some drinks amongst good company, and order some starters. Let me get right to the point...yes, my friends so rightly points out, we found a f*cking dead cockroach in our bowl of peanuts. Some of the ridiculous excuses we heard:
1. "We had pest control done the other day" - oh f*cking fantastic, that makes it all right, bring me a bowl of roaches, please!
2. "Sorry ma'am, it won't happen again" - of course it won't, you morons! It's not as if you made my food too spicy, I found the most detestable insect on earth in my bowl of peanuts!
3. "It's never happened before ma'am" - WTF, you think I'm lying assh*le?

After a ton of back and forth, the manager finally met us after we'd already decided to pack up. He offered for us to check out his kitchen and offered a round of drinks and some food on the house. By that time, the only thing I could think about were creepy crawlers in my stomach. Yech! I'm staying away from this place. Will most likely park myself at Vanilla from hereon out. Meet me there, gang!
