Good
Being brought up on the staple diet of mouthwatering masala dosas in Bangalore, I have been time and again disappointed with so-called "udipi" hotels outside of South India. As a result whenever a non-south Indian tells me about any "really nice" south Indian joint I view it with a lot of suspicion. So when my friends suggested this place to me, I didn't go with too much expectations - but this place was a revelation!
We started off with rasam vadas, medu vadas and upma - the rasam vada was simply delicious, with the hot, spicy & tangy rasam forcing us to order for seconds...for the medu vada, the sambar wasn't so great, but with the nice chutney they were pretty good, just the right amount of crunchiness and softness...the upma was standard stuff but better than what you usually get elsewhere here in Mumbai...
For the main course we ordered 3 different dosas and a uttappa. Masala dosa, mysore masala dosa and onion rava dosa were all very good, though the garlic chutney in the mysore masala dosa was too garlic-y for my taste...Only the onion uttappa was bad so to say - very bland and I would definitely not have it here again...
We thought it wouldn't be right to come here and not taste the idlys so we ordered a plate of idly-molgaipudi...The idlys were as good as any I have eaten and the molgaipudi while good, could have been spicier...
We rounded up the meal with nice strong sugary filter coffees that left me smiling...
As for the price, it cost us a little over 500 bucks for 5 people and we all ate pretty heartily, that for me is not costly...Service is very basic, but its fast, which is good...
Oh and you should buy a packet of the "spicy" potato chips they sell at the takeaway counter - and I dare you no one can eat just one!
Overall, its definitely the best South Indian food I have eaten in two years in Mumbai and I can't wait to go back...

Poor
We had gone to the 180 degrees lunch buffet for a team lunch on a weekday...The place is BIG and has a good ambiance...Even though there were quite a few people it never got crowded, not even near the buffet tables...There is enough privacy and the seating is quite well spread out...The place has a really nice atmosphere for large group outings - may be that's why it's so popular with the office going crowd here...
The buffet had really good variety containing soups, lots of salads, starters, north Indian food, Chinese food, live pasta counter and a large spread of desserts...
But that said, nothing in the food was impressive...The soup was ok and the salads (at least 5 each in veg and non-veg) were all pretty good...The two veg starters, spring rolls and some fried stuff were both so-so...There were two non-veg starters - chicken lollyopop and some chicken kebab - while the chicken lollypop was nice, the kebab was too dry, hard and almost tasteless...
Going to the main course, the north Indian dishes ranged from ok to bad...Only the pulav was good...The pasta was kind of bland and too cheesy for my taste...I didn't try the Chinese, but my friends commented it was nothing great...
The best part of the buffet was of course the desserts - the range was just amazing...There were some more than ten items I think ranging from Indian sweets to Puddings & Pastries to Mousse and plain fruits...Of course I couldn't try all of them, but everything I tried was really good...
Now coming to the service, it was quite bad to put it mildly! The plates and spoons would never be cleared out when we came back with our next course...The water almost never got filled...We had to constantly ask for forks and spoons...They never asked for a second round of starters...They took too long to serve the rotis and so on...The only good part about the service was that we had a couple of Jain friends with us and they were pretty patient with them and catered well to them...But then its become more of a hygiene factor in most restaurants in Mumbai...
I won't dump the place till I sample the a la carte menu but the buffet is a definite no for me...

Good
I had been to the Mainland China restaurant in Andheri (East) earlier and had come out less than impressed, but the one on Andheri (West) is much much better…Been there twice - once for dinner on a weekend night and once for the Sunday lunch buffet...
Expectedly, the waiting time for dinner on weekend was really high, but the food and ambience were totally worth it…The place is pretty big and the tables are not crowded together, giving enough privacy…As for the food, almost everything was really good…The steamed momos are mouthwatering...I also strongly recommend another of their starters made of american corn fried in batter - very tasty...Chinese starters of course go really well with drinks and they have a couple of interesting cocktails to try…
If the a la carte dinner was impressive, the lunch buffet was something else altogether...The soup and starters were good as usual...The choice in main course was just too much! Apart from the fried rice and noodles (one each for veg and non-veg), there were eight types of main course dishes - veg and non-veg each! And most of them were pretty good...The dessert spread was decent with the perfunctory honey fried noodles thrown in...In any case we were too full with the food, to try out too many of the desserts...
As for price, the dinner was quite expensive (6500 bucks for 5 with drinks), while the lunch buffet was good value for money (around 500 bucks each)… All in all, one of the best Chinese restaurants I have visited in a long time and irrespective of the price, it’s a place I plan to visit often…

There are quite a few restaurants in Mumbai with great ambiance, so it's difficult to get impressed with the ambiance of a new place...But the look and feel of this place is really good - traditional and yet stylish at the same time...
The food itself was pretty good...Since we were just two of us and we weren't very hungry, we didn't order a lot - just one "chicken kalmi kebab" for starters and one "vegetable malai kofta" with naans for the main course...but everything we ordered turned out to be just right...Oh ya, we split a bottle of red wine and it complimented the food pretty well...
One thing about the food here is that is that even though its very flavourful none of the tastes stand out in your mouth..Its all light and mellow...Creamy, but not greasy...So don't expect punjabi dhaba type of "spicy" north indian food here...
No wonder then this place is frequented so much by foreigners...In fact the manager even told us that their clientele is usually 80% foreigners! So expectedly this place is pricey...Just the food without the wine cost us 1.2k, and we didn't eat a lot!
So if you are looking for north Indian food but something a little subtle and don't mind spending a bit, you can give this place a try...

Good
First impressions can be truly deceptive. I went there first on Valentine's day. Needless to say it was over crowded and the waiting time for seating and food was ridiculous - basically too much to handle for a new place. Thankfully, the food was tasty enough and my love for Italian food high enough for me to give it another shot and I was wonderfully surprised. I have been there quite a few times after that and now its high up in my list of favorite restaurants.
The ambiance is really good -the low lighting and white sofas creating a nice feel. The food is very authentic Italian and so is the menu - some of the names can be real tongue twisters! But the staff is courteous and knowledgeable enough to explain and help you order. They will also customize the dishes on the menu if you ask.
I have tried pretty much everything on offer for vegetarians here and I have been impressed by them all - the pastas, the pizzas, the risotto - everything is good to great. Even though the starters are pretty good, they come in small portions - just enough for two to share.
All in all a very nice place for a romantic evening or to chill out with a bunch of friends.
